The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.

Recently I came across a post from @swissclive and the title was - Short story iniative and you should definitely check it out! I have seen a lot of initiatives here on Steemit. All of them aim to help build a strong community and incentivize Newbies like me - and I can surely say that this perticular initiative from @swissclive has captivated me.

The short answer to the question - why exactly this one ? - If you check out my introduction post you will definitely find the answer.

In my opinion one of the issues in our modern society is that the power of imagination is greatly underestimated. The first step towards living in a better world is being able to imagine one! As you read further you will have to decide for yourself, but I can surely say that this initiative and the knowledge I acquired in the process will have a big effect on my personal development goals for 2018.

Imagination and It's importance

  • Imagination stimulates creativity and innovation

I think we can surely say that the biggest ever accomplishments of human beings are fueled by vision. Without imagination, I don't think one can develop an innovative vision for a better world ( for example). If we look at Darvin, Newton, Einstein, Thomas Edison and numerous more inventors and scientist- they have changed the world, because they had a vision for the future and most of all their imagination was at work.

  • Your imagination creates your world

As Napoleon Hill states in his book "Think And Grow Rich", our thoughts translate into reality, if we mix them with proper emotions. If you haven't read the book ,you should definitely do that! It really has the power to change your life. So the essence of it is that if you can't imagine the world you want to live in, the odds are you will not live in it. The first step towards the things you desire is to imagine them.

Example - Thomas Edison "failed" 9999 times before he succeeded to invent the light bulb. He saw it as 9999 ways that didn't work. If Mr. Edison didn't possess the vision and was able to imagine a better way to cultivate light, this innovation might have been delayed with decades.

  • Imagination Keeps You Going

Sometimes, when imagination meets determination - the result is GREATNESS. My personal opinion is that if you imagine regularly, at one point your imagination will meet with your passion. At that point nothing can stop you to achieve your vision, because passion will keep you going.

How To Train Your Imagination

This is a very individual topic, so I will just give some guidelines that might work for you. Also I recommend you read the following articles - Article 1, Article 2

  • Read Books
  • Meditate
  • Play Games
  • Visit New Cultures And Placs
  • Visualize

Conclusion

This initiative is a great starting point, I really think that we should not stop there. Imagine, visualize and develop a imagine again ! Create your world by your design, don't live for approval nor to meet someone elses expectations. You, and only you have the power to change your own future! Start today by imagining a better tomorrow.

If you look in one of my blogs of a few months ago, you will find a photo of a newspaper article from the 1860s about Thomas Edison’s so called “electric light”. The article derides it as a “mouse” of a light, and say that shareholders in gas-lighting companies need have no fear that electric lighting will ever replace gas.

Even so, that doesn't make him less of an inventor. Also I don't think this is the point here. Thank you for your comment.
