Steem Torch Transfers List and a Request to Lower the Final Count
Almost a year ago I sent out the Steem Torch with a purpose of conducting a social experiment to demonstrate the speed and trust of transferring value on Steem. Within this time it has traveled the world, has been transferred 250 times, and has accumulated 981 Steem. Yesterday it came back to me. Today I spent all day tracking all transfers, and made the the full and hopefully accurate list of all Steem Torch transfers. You can see the list below.
Final count for the experiment to end is 1337. Initially it was even 10000, which was lowered to 1337 right away at the beginning. At the current speed, it will probably take the Steem Torch to reach the 1337th user about 4-5 years. For this reason, I am asking for a permission to lower the count to 337. If anybody among the experiment participants object for this change in the rule I will not make changes. If there are no objections within next 48 hours, I will assume it is ok the change the final count. In that case, I will publish the revised rules and send the Steem Torch to the next user.
I will round the Steem Torch up to 1000 Steem and will be sending it to @teofilex11. Thank you everybody for participating and showing the power of the Steem wallet. I am excited to see it continuing in the 2020. I will share my thoughts and findings about the experiment at a later time.
Hello @geekgirl Going through your list I realize that I miss @beekart 's posts.... amazing artwork. Luckily there are now other digital design artists on here to learn from like @yanes94 or @masummin50
@steevc I believe the last person to receive the torch when the total amount is reached will be the person with community guidance to decide where the Steem goes. I believe it is supposed to be a charitable type of event, so a Steemian in need or some other type of Steem Blockchain support like maybe a delegation or something of the sort.... but of course @geekgirl will know more for sure about this.
ps.... amazing project @geekgirl I want to believe that we are a rarity in the crypto-space, and when I say "We" I mean the Steem Blockchain community. I feel that in other other project, the money would have been long gone or the project would have probably just died. Here, the community has kept it alive after all this time, and it has taken time because I imagine those in charge at the time take their responsibility to SteemTorch, the Steem Blockchain and the Steem Community seriously and with great care.
Thank you @streetstyle! When I first saw bitcoin lightning torch going around, I knew Steem could do it better. Steem definitely has a better tech and an amazing community to take us to the decentralized future.
Great to see such trust in each other, this Torch not being broken and funds to be stolen. Nothing against reducing the number of final destination. Wondering why the initial 1337, and now the 337 times? Where did this number come from?
Maybe it is really nice to launch another Torch, or something similar, either in parallel or after this one finishes?
Originally final count was 10k. Then it was suggested the number might be too high, so I had to lower it. I lowered to 1337 because this number was mentioned in the comments, and sounded interesting.
Now it is 337, just removed a thousand. :) Random number really. No special significance.
I don't plan to start another one. I think it will take about six months or so for this original Steem Torch to finish successfully.
Random is good :)
Well, 6 months to decided the run another one :) Could be something that promotes Steem by running a campaign at all the usual social media. But, I also understand when you don't want to do that at all :)
Wow, @jongolson is popular! Either that, or the torch has a magnetic attraction to him! ;D
No protest from me on the torch finishing sooner. 250 is actually a nice number and the fact that it returned to you could be a sign. For me, it would also be fitting for it to finish with you and you making a decision on where the Steem goes. Maybe something like @sbdpotato, for the good of the whole community (that's assuming you don't mind a suggestion). 🤔
Yes, Jon was one of the few users who people showed they trusted multiple times. It is not going to end at 250. I wouldn't want to be the last user. It kinda would defeat the purpose. If nobody objects, hopefully, the experiment will end at 337th transfer with success. The last user can decide how to use the accumulated funds for the benefit of the community.
I am honored to be mentioned and honored to have carried the torch and to have contributed to strengthen the value of honesty in Steemit. Thanks to @geekgirl and to everyone who made this fabulous and very beautiful experience possible. A hug in the distance. @geekgirl @drakernoise @sacra97
🤗
Thank you @marybellrg!
It was quite an experience to have contributed to look for honest people who continued with the torch that is already in its final phase @geekgirl
No objection from me. do a good social work
Even with lowering the final count to 337, it will probably take about half a year to finish with success. Thank you @sacra97.
Well, the decision is important, it ends and another one begins again
One of the most amazing ideas un our ecosystem. Love It!
Everything you think it's fair @geekgirl would be ok and I doubt no one would argue It.
Keep It Up that great Spirit!
Hugs and love over there ❤️
Thank you @drakernoise!
No objection from me.
Thank you @eturnerx!
Pleasing to see so much value being passed around honestly.
Thank you @brianoflondon! Yes, it is indeed.
