Dassault Rafale & Eurofighter Typhoon : The Deadliest Killer Fighter Jets

Hi to all the beautiful ladies and gentleman of this amazing community #Steemit!

Dear Steemians,

A wholeheartedly greetings to all of you. Hope you all are doing awesome in your life. As per the continuation to my previous publication “An Introduction To The Most Killer Fighter Aircafts Of The World”, I am bringing you my third publication on "Dassault Rafale & Eurofighter Typhoon: The Deadliest Killer Fighter Jets". I hope this will going to be one of the most interesting post for you all by the help of which more and more like minded people will surely join my league to make the interaction more meaningful and refreshing.

So, without any further delay let’s quickly open the box of treasure one by one or you can also call them as one of my areas of interest on which I will love to interact, learn and share my knowledge and skills:

Introduction:

* Dassault Rafale: Dassault Aviation has manufactured the Dassault Rafale is a delta wing, twin engine, multirole aircraft. Rafale is capable of hitting hard in any kind of war whether it is an aerial recognence or ground support or anti-ship strike or nuclear attack and this is why it is also called an omni-role fighter jet.

* Eurofighter Typhoon: This is a delta wing, twin engine, multirole fighter jet. Earlier it was developed for the air superiority missions. Eurofighter Typhoon is extensively fast and quick responsive fighter jet because of which it is regarded as one of the best fighter jet; especially when it is indulged in dogfight.

Countries that are using these aircrafts:

* Dassault Rafale: Rafale A was first to be tested in 1986 and in 1991 Rafale C was tested. Finally, in 2001 Rafale was officially included in the French Air Force. Friends, please let me take a moment to share with you all that presently French Navy, French Airforce, and Egyptian Air Force are using the Rafale fighter jets and by the end of this year ,i.e., by 2019 Indian Air Force will also be included in the list. There has been over 160 units of Rafale fighter jets already been manufactured till date which is likely to keep on increasing with time.

* Eurofighter Typhoon: Eurofighter jet’s first test flight was completed in 1994 and in 2003 it was officially added in Royal Air Force. Please let me take another moment again to share with you all that presently German Air Force, Italian Air Force, and Spanish Air Force are using these fighter jets. In addition to the list Austria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman are the other countries which are also using the Eurofighter Typhoon jets. Till date, a total of 599 units of Eurofighter Typhoon jets has been manufactured.

Cost of manufacturing:

* Dassault Rafale: Rafale M costs €79 million in fly away condition.

* Eurofighter Typhoon: Eurofighter jet cost varies from €90 million - €125 million.

Specialties:

* Dassault Rafale: Rafale comes in two variants – single seater and twin seater. Its length is 15.27m, wing span is 10.80m, height is 5.34m and wing area is 45.7m2. Rafale empty weighs 10600 kg and loaded weighs 15000 kg. The maximum takeoff weight is up to 24500 kg. Rafale’s single seat variant can carry up to 4700 kilo of internal fuel while the twin seater variant can carry up to 4400 kilo of internal fuel. Rafale has got Snecma M88 turbofan engine which without afterburner generates 100 KN thrust and with afterburner generates 150 KN thrust.

* Eurofighter Typhoon: Eurofighter is a single seater variant aircraft. But the trainer variant in which the pilots are trained is a twin seater. The length of these aircrafts is 15.96m, wing span is 10.95m, height is 5.28m and wing area is 51.2 m2. Eurofighter Typhoon empty weighs 11000 kg and loaded weighs 16000 kg. The maximum takeoff weight is 23500 kg. The fuel capacity of these fighter jets are more advantageous as it can carry up to 5000 kilo of internal fuel. It has got two Eurojet EJ200 afterburner turbofan engines which without afterburner can generate 120 KN thrust and with afterburner can generate 180 KN of thrust.

Performance:

* Dassault Rafale: Rafale operates with a maximum speed of 1.8 Mach equivalent to 1912 km/hr in high altitude and 1.25 Mach in low altitude. Its range is 3700 km and combat radius is 1852 km. Rafale’s service ceiling is 15235m equivalent to 50000 ft and the rate of climb is 304.8m equivalent to 60000 ft/min. Rafale’s thrust-weight-ratio is 0.988 and the limit load factor is -3.2g/+9g and in case of emergency it can extend up to +11g.

* Eurofighter Typhoon: Eurofighter operates with a maximum speed of 2 Mach equivalent to 2495 km/hr in high altitude whereas 1.2 Mach in low altitude and also can become super cruise with a speed of 1.5 Mach. It has a range of 2900 km and the combat radius varying from 601 km – 1390 km. The service ceiling can be extended up to 19812m which is also equivalent to the service ceiling of Lockheed Martin F22 Raptor. Its rate of climb is 318 m/sec and the limit load is -3g/+9.

Weapons:

* Dassault Rafale: Rafale has been integrated with 30 mm auto cannon which is capable of firing 125 rounds. Rafale comes with 14 hardpoints in which up to 9500 kg of payload can be carried. The different types of air-to-air missiles that it comes with or has Magic 2, MBDA, MICA and MBDA Meteor missiles. For air-to-ground missiles, it has MBDA Apache, MBDA Storm Shadow SCALP, AASM “Hammer”, “SPU-38, 54, 64”, JBU12, etc. Apart from that it is also capable of firing MBDA AM39 Exocet Anti-ship missile. In addition to it Rafale is also capable of firing ASMP-A Nuclear missile.

* Eurofighter Typhoon: Eurofighter has been integrated with 27mm revolver cannon which is capable of firing 150 rounds. It has got 13 hardpoints in which 9000 kg of payload can be carried at a time. The air-to-air missiles of Eurofighter Typhoon are AIM120, AIM132, AIM-9X Sidewinder, IRIS-T, Meteor missiles. In addition to it, Eurofighter is also capable of firing air-to-ground missiles such as AGM-65 Maverick, AGM-88 Bridgestone, Taurus KEPD 350, Storm Shadow and MARTE-ER anti-ship missile.

Avionics:

* Dassault Rafale: Rafale has THALES RBE2-AA AESA radar along with the THALES Spectra Electronic Warfare system.

* Eurofighter Typhoon: Eurofighter has Euro radar, Capta radar along with passive infrared airborne tracking equipment.

Eurofighter Typhoon comes with Capta Radar which provides advantage to it over Rafale. But suppose at a single time more numbers of enemies comes out whether in air or ground then RBE2-AA AESA radar is considered to be reliable and advanced over the Eurofighter Capta Radar, i.e., considering the multirole operations then Rafale is a better choice over the Eurofighter Typhoon which has already been proved several times in different aircraft exercises that took place in different countries.
