The Steem Sister Show - Episode 37 // Consumer Purchasing Trends

in #steemsistershow6 years ago

Welcome to the 37th episode of the Steem Sister Show!

Your hosts are @coruscate and @maryjaney. We are two sisters using the Steem blockchain to chat about our life experiences and provide a little entertainment value to the Steemit Community.

Topic of this Episode – Consumer Purchasing Trends

I know this topic sounds super sexy... but it's pretty interesting to discuss how purchasing patterns have changed in the last few years and how the "Amazon effect" is shifting the way we think about retail.

In the last few years - over 9,000 retail doors have closed in the US alone as more and more shoppers are moving to buying this online. In this episode we chat all about this, including counterfeit product concerns and what items we still love to buy in person. Because this topic is overall about consumer trends - we also discuss the rise of influencer marketing and how that impacts our buying decisions.

Here are the questions covered in this episode:

  • How does influencer marketing affect you?

  • Audience question from @anasuleidy – I have never bought online because I am afraid of being scammed. Do you think this is an actual phobia and what name would you give those who do not buy online?

  • What items do you buy only online?

  • What items do you still prefer to buy in a physical store?

  • Audience question from @jdbs – Do you think Steemit can be used as effective advertising?

  • Would you ever consider opening a brick and morter store in this changing retail climate?

What is the Steem Sister Show All About?

We aim to bring more “non-crypto” related content to the Steem Blockchain. Although there is nothing wrong with this kind of content (@corsucate even posts on crypto related material sometimes) – we want to help create a better onboarding experience for new users. We talk a lot about attracting new users to the platform – but if the trending page is filled with crypto posts and flagging wars, they are likely to lose interest quickly.

We hope that by creating content that is more similar to what they are used to seeing on other social media sites – they will feel more excited about being here and creating content of their own!

How Does It Work?

We pick a different topic every episode, and then throw totally random questions about that topic in a hat and go back and forth. We always have a mix of our own questions and some audience questions. Our rule is that we cannot tell each other our answers before filming! So you guys are getting our raw, unfiltered reactions here.

Every episode we announce the next week’s topic so people can submit questions.

Want to win some SBD??

If we chose to answer your question in the next show… we will send you 2 SBD! Now that’s some easy money.

Next Week’s Topic : Ratings and Reviews

Ok, we wanted to talk about this in today's episode - but felt it was too big of a topic to really tackle with one question, so we are giving it an entire episode!

Next week, we'll chat all about how ratings and reviews impact our buying decisions, how often we take the time to leave good or bad reviews, what value our employee places on reviews... etc.

I've also got some interesting insight on how brands can sometimes purchase good reviews and leverage reviews on other sites to be a little misleading to consumers.

So shoot us your questions on the topic of ratings and reviews! It could be with products, stores, restaurants ... really anywhere that an online review might sway our decisions.

If you would like the possibility of winning 2 Steem - please submit your questions! Anything on the topic of online ratings and reviews is fair game. Listener questions always end up being the best ones - so thank you in advance to everyone who submits one!

That’s a Wrap!

We hope you guys enjoyed this episode! We definitely had fun chatting about this topic!

With Love,

The Steem Sisters

I just wanna say I really enjoy this show. You always pick pretty interesting topics!

The Steem Sisters love you right back!! <3 hehe

¡Hi friends!
My question is: ¿Do you think that a negative campaign on the internet can destroy a restaurant such as a fast food chain like "Macdonald"?

Ooh great question @teresah!! Thanks for stopping by and checking out our show!

Also, I wish I was on next week's episode with you guys because I have SO much to say on the topic of reviews and ratings. I've been an amazon seller for 3 years so yeah...lots to say lol.

oooh we wish you could join us too!! <3 Maybe someday we'll have to do some kinda collab chatting about it! hehe

Joining in spirit! Yeah that would be so awesome

Ratings and reviews will always take part in giving a good or bad impact to a product.
The question is how big is the effect of bad and good reviews for costumer to buy things n what's your criteria in giving a good and bad review or rating to a certain product you buy?

Hi @fitrianizar!! I hope you are doing well! I appreciate you stopping by our show and leaving a great question!

Thank you for answering my question, your program is incredible and you are beautiful. For this week I would like imagine that you buy a product guiding you by the reviews, classifications and publicity that you have, and when you receive your product you realize that you were the victim of a deceptive offer, do you think it is worth negatively rating the seller?

Thanks so much for your awesome question last week and for a new question this week! Your awesome! :)

The truth I was surprised that they chose my question... Thanks for the reward, = D
I feel happy friends!

My question for this week:
If you find a product that you love and is at good price, but the seller has no qualification or reputation, Es A new person in the market.
¿Would you buy the product?

Thanks for the awesome question and for stopping by our show again!! hehe

I miss my questions being answered, so I'm gonna ask something again :P

From 1 to 5, how would you rate Steemit? and why?

Thanks for stopping by @ralk98! <3

Wow, I really love your blog. It is really amazing and super fascinating. Trust me I mean every words...
Once, I am done with WWE show here, I will watch that video over again. Except my sincere comment, till then...

Yours, @mediahousent, host of wafrica discord show

SBD is really needed for upgrad raputation lavel. wonderful looking you both

Great show as always. I personally am cautious when buying online, I find most products are not always the same as advertised.

About ratings and reviews, this one is really broad. How much do you depend on ratings and reviews before trying something out?
Can ratings and reviews of restaurants be trusted? I have fallen victim of this several times.
I look forward to the next show. Have a great day!

aww I LOVE your questions!! Thanks for being such an awesome regular for our show. <3
