The Steem Sister Show - Episode 39 // Ratings and Reviews

in steemsistershow •  5 months ago

Welcome to the 39th episode of the Steem Sister Show!

Your hosts are @coruscate and @maryjaney. We are two sisters using the Steem blockchain to chat about our life experiences and provide a little entertainment value to the Steemit Community.

Topic of this Episode – Ratings and Reviews

The way that we purchase and view items has changed SO much in the last few years and ratings and reviews are a big part of how a lot of people make buying decisions. We kept this topic pretty broad - but we ended up with quite a few questions on reviews in the food industry! We also discuss online reviews in places like Amazon, and how our own companies handle the idea of reviews.

Here are the questions covered in this episode:

  • Audience question from @cheekah – can ratings and reviews of restaurants be trusted?

  • What priority does your employer place on reviews?

  • Have you ever had a negative review about yourself personally at a place you worked?

  • Audience question from @teresah – Do you think a negative campaign on the internet can destroy a restaurant?

  • How often do you take the time to leave a good or bad review?

Mary said... "Let's do a hair flip picture!" Looks like I was a little late to the party.

What is the Steem Sister Show All About?

We aim to bring more “non-crypto” related content to the Steem Blockchain. Although there is nothing wrong with this kind of content (@corsucate even posts on crypto related material sometimes) – we want to help create a better onboarding experience for new users. We talk a lot about attracting new users to the platform – but if the trending page is filled with crypto posts and flagging wars, they are likely to lose interest quickly.

We hope that by creating content that is more similar to what they are used to seeing on other social media sites – they will feel more excited about being here and creating content of their own!

How Does It Work?

We pick a different topic every episode, and then throw totally random questions about that topic in a hat and go back and forth. We always have a mix of our own questions and some audience questions. Our rule is that we cannot tell each other our answers before filming! So you guys are getting our raw, unfiltered reactions here.

Every episode we announce the next week’s topic so people can submit questions.

Want to win some SBD??

If we chose to answer your question in the next show… we will send you 2 SBD! Now that’s some easy money.

Next Week’s Topic : Our Canadian Habits

Random topic, eh? @maryjaney and I are both dual citizens between the United States and Canada - but have predominantly lived in the US most of our lives. Every once in a while we will catch little Canadian mannerisms that we picked up from our parents though. (Both born and raised Canadians).

We are hitting the road to Toronto here in a few days, and we are curious to see what Canadian habits creep creep back in after spending 5 full days up there!

So... I know this is kinda random - but send us your questions! Feel free to get creative people.

If you would like the possibility of winning 2 Steem - please submit your questions! Anything on the topic of *Canadian Habits is fair game. Listener questions always end up being the best ones - so thank you in advance to everyone who submits one!

That’s a Wrap!

We hope you guys enjoyed this episode! We definitely had fun chatting about this topic!

Ps... This was the last time I will be posting in my current studio! I am in the throws of moving and will be setting up a new and different recording space there.

PPS... Mary and I will be in Toronto next week and so our Canadian habits will get posted one week later than usual. You'll be seeing all sorts of fun Steem Sister content from us in Toronto to tie you over though!

With Love,

The Steem Sisters

greetings my old friend. It's been a while. I really liked your take on reviews. I personally think reviews are personal when it comes to certain things. Videos are judged and reviewed in a different way versus a restaurant. I think If people want to take the time to read reviews then they are more likely to write them themselves. great video and keep up the great work.

The pizza variety everybody knows as Hawaiian originated in Canada, not Hawaii. Greek-born restaurateur Sam Panopoulos was the first person to pair ham and pineapple atop a pizza, which he first did at his restaurant in Chatham, Ontario, back in 1962.

So my question is.... what is your favourite pizza?

posts that are very good quality, very useful and also easy to understand.

Hahahaha you gals crack me up witb your hair flip! I love it... i love it more that sisters are rocking Steemit!..

You both are an inspiration!

Here's my question though..

*What sets you different from each other? And what is the one thing that you will always share with each other? Or what is the one thing that will set you on rage in instant?

Thank You !

I was going to ask about poutine but you mentioned it haha! I recently had some split pea soup at Anderson's Split Pea Soup here in California, good stuff, looks like it's been around since 500 - 400 bc as hot pea soup: Have fun in Toronto!!!

I am enjoying listening to your show. Yes businesses hang on reviews. One bad review can destroy a company. Interesting that they will bribe you with desert for a 5 star review. The competition often will make fake bad reviews to drive business their way. It all goes back to money. Again thanks @coruscate

Lmfao ahhhg that thumbnail gets me! Then the hair flip pic 🤣 I am cruising on mobile so I’ll watch in a little bit.

As always girls what a hoot!

Canadian habits.... oohhh the double sorry.... Why do we Canadians both say sorry when neither person is at fault? Is it cause we aim to prove who is more humble or something? I really don’t get it but it does nutritize many situations that could be turned into arguments.

Hope you are doing well.
Especially, it Steem Sister Show it is very important for our sisters.
Today's episode was very good and lots of entertainment. Very good topic - Ratings and Reviews. Hopefully, I can learn a lot more about the 40th episode.

Greetings from @Oxygen02,..i think as a Canadian born, some Canadian habit are innate in you. So my question is this;

  • what is that Canadian habit you hate most and dont like to exhibit?
  • what is that habit you always love to show as a Canadian born that will give people good impression about Canada

Simply the best @coruscate and @maryjaney

I couldn't help laughing at the hair flip picture. Its cute...reminds me of some embarrassing old group pictures I have. I don't mind how I look there, I believe its the memories that matter.
I wish you both a fun filled trip to Toronto. I sure hope to take a vacation someday.
My questions are, which one habit is common among most Canadians?
What do you love most about this country?

Thank you for answering my friends question... My question is: Is it true that in Canada they take off their shoes when they enter a house? If it is true, why do they do it? Did your parents teach you to apply this habit?

Loved the show as always @coruscate and @maryjaney , Sorry I have been so busy with company and stuff this long weekend that I missed a lot of posts , but im glad to check some out now while I have a chance , great job, and yes you were a little late to the party on the hair flip lol! upped and resteemed !💕👌👏✌

My question is:
¿What do you think is the most original and strange tradition in Canada?
¿What Tradition would you be able to record in a video to share with us?

Great episode girls! It's hard to be sad about saying goodbye to this space when we're already super excited about the new apartment and Toronto!

Thank you so much for my 2 Steem yesterday... except, I'm actually not sure what it's for... if it was a mistake, please let me know and I'll send it straight back.

Reviews are super tricky... I reckon I get maybe 1 or 2 phone calls a week from Google asking if I want reviews on my little IT business... and my friends who recently opened a gym get hassled by Yelp all the time. I can't wait until there is a blockchain review platform where people get rewarded for effort and honesty.

Very excited about your trip to Toronto!

My question is:

  • Are there any words or sayings that you thought the whole world used that you later found out were only said in Canada?

A friend was saying that she was in her mid-twenties before she realised that not everyone called beanies toques.

Once again, great show, and it absolutely flies by! Thanks for sharing, and I really loved the way Lea asks questions of the camera with a look like she's expecting it to answer back.... one day, my friend... one day.

Ha. No less than 4 hours from my comment I get a call from Yelp. Sheesh.

Is Tim Horton's actually part of Canadians' DNA or is it just a habit to go there?
