Do you ever think about reevaluating your Silver Stack? #410
Do you ever think to reevaluate your stack?
I dont have a huge stack but its a decent stack and it's mine. I have 145 different pieces according to my excel sheet, of course this number grows with every order and i have multiple's of most. This in time will make my exit plan very time consuming and difficult. I often think about what if i had stuck to buying my core coins, the 12 coins i stack every year religiously and cut out the rest, all the fun coins i buy just cause they look nice are, are new release coins that everyone else is getting them so i have to get some too. What if i sold everything i have except for my core 12? and used the money to reevaluate my stack into those 12 coins from years 2015+ I started stacking at the end of 2013, learnt from mistakes in 2014 and got more organised in 2015. I know if i did this, i would gain roughly 5-10% extra oz's in the process thought selling higher premium stuff and i would have a clean catalogued stack that would be easier and quicker to exit with. What if i just stacked one coin? No, that's too crazy to think about. 12 is a good number.
Core 12 - China panda, Congo gorilla, libertad, koala, Kookaburra, Perth lunar 1/2 oz, 1oz & 2oz, Somalian elephant, Uk britannia, Uk lunar series and finally kangaroos added in 2016.
Some may think that 12 is still to many but i stack these because everyone knows them, they are easy to resell and i enjoy watching the date runs grow every year. I would make some personal stack with my brit date run, SBSS coins and 1 offs for a big box under the bed, no more than 100 ozs.
The master plan is to stack my core 12 for 5 years. Then each year after i will flip the oldest coin and buy that years. So for example with my lunar 1/2oz coins that i buy 50 of each year. In 2020, i will flip my 2015 coins to buy 2020's, maybe sell 20 to buy back 23-24 and get my stack to become self-funding. Oz's over premiums. I plan this way as i would like to invest else where in a couple of years so the bulk of my pension is not in 1 pot, still have 30+ years to go so plenty of time. But the self funding thing is important to me, semi-passive pension fund with a few weeks of selling and buying each year. Nice wee pot off the rader away from the tax mans preying eyes.
Second thought, my new avg per oz would make me cry :(
Anyone ever thought of doing something like this are has done it? It seems like a good plan but it maybe boring not getting those 1 offs, the spice to the stack, Any thoughts?

Lots to consider UK...
I basically try to buy as many fucking Maples as i can — oh yeah, and RCM 9999 10 bars too. (Best bang for buck on the planet imho).
However! (There’s always an however)
I also stack cad and us junk and i buy shiny stuff that makes my eyes drool. It’s obvious that you are not just a weight satcker so leave a hefty margin for the sheer enjoyment of metals collecting. People often haggle over fractions of a dollar (pound) and wind up with a big pile of un-spectacular generic, and this is good for some investors.
But bro, do not discount the huge satisfaction and pleasure that is derived from barking at the lunar goddess! Personally, i’d rather smoke a fat one and play with my stack than doing many other costly activities — and then there’s the hours of enjoyment and stimulation of searching out answers and finding coins and shit like that — itsa goddamned nerdsters paradise!
Have fun, make some money, rinse and repeat!
True that.
Fucking maples is right, milky bitches. I heard they had fixed the problem for this year and have not looked into it.But if so, i will stack them again. Im deffo not a weight stacker, you cant be a .999 weight stacker in the UK, it's not possible with the Vat.
Playing with your stack is a pleasure and time spent well and if a spliff in involved all the better. You seen my stack pictures so you know i like to play and build.
Here, i got some silver today and have not opened the box yet. I used to unbox right away but my stackitis makes me wait so i can savour the moment. Bottle of vino and candles set the mood for a nice unboxing.
Great comment dude 😎
Cheers bro! A bottle of wine, candles and a spliff!!!? Wow man! You got it bad.
Lol look fwd to your romancin’ later on...
Excellent stocks and an excellent collection
Thanks man. I have built it up slowly over 4 years. Nice you watch it grow.

Hey @silverstackeruk, you are experiencing the 'stackers dilemma'. I think we have all gone through it at some stage in our stacking journey.
My head says I should be stacking low premium high oz silver bars. They are easy to liquidate, super easy to store and a bit of tarnish give them character.
My heart says I should stack what I enjoy and that which gives me pleasure.
The outcome, I have a hybrid strategy. About 75% of my stack consists of bars, rounds and rounds at relatively low premium. The other 25% is my pleasure stack... numismatic coins, collector series, proof coins, unique finds, etc.
I actually get as much pleasure from both, but the future plan if required is to liquidate the lower premium and hold the collectables.
Damn dude that is a pog collection like I've never seen! Look at those slammers!
When i throw these at people, you better believe, they fucking move!
As soon as I saw this post, I thought: bet you he has got an excell sheet for all that. Well a few lines later and confirmed. Nice collection!
I stack excel sheets, lol
Thanks for commenting buddy,
Considering that retirement is 25 years away for me I had never thought of any sort of master plan. The only plan was to stack and stack and stack some more. Bullion, coins, semi numismatics. Some gold, some silver. I've never even thought too much of selling my silver, waiting to see how the fiat dollar goes, thinking it will eventually crash out and then having a real point of leverage. I guess I always figured I would wait until my 50's and then start to sort my collection and sell the higher premium coins for more of the bullion....You certainly have me thinking now for sure!
I im in the phase as you atm as far as stacking hard. And if the gold silver ratio does not fall to 1-40, i'll need to make a new plan.
Not to sure about the dollar. I heard something about a fedcoin, maybe its fud. If something like this was to happen, its game over for us i fear.
It's good to have a plan. I've got a spreadsheet but just keep adding entries to it. I probably need to work on that!
You using excel? I used to update mine every month for every coin, as my stack grew it was less fun. I searched each coin on ebay and filtered to sold, lowest price and buy it now. I would pick the first coin within a 2 week window and use the sell price minus 20%. The data is great but it can take upto an hour sometimes and thats going really fast at 3-4 coins a minutes. I changed it this year to every 3 months instead and will go from there.
Thanks for commenting.
Yes, I use excel but I am just tracking purchases and premium paid over spot so I have a couple of cell formulas for that and I don't worry about digging up recent sales data.
Sounds like your data would be very interesting. You should post some of it.
I makes for interesting looking but it takes a long time. I might do an excel stacking post sometime, thats not a bad idea buddy

That's a great stack. I am always thinking of ways to flip my one offs to buy more bulk, but rarely do sell anything, lol. I did, last year sell off my full collection of the Canadian $100 for $100 and $200 for $200 coins, as well as a bunch of $50 and $20 coins. And I turned those into my first amount of Bitcoin when it was at $4000. That became a smart move! I have since been flipping cryptos and bought silver with that. But yeah, I've been thinking about selling my fancy rounds and buying bulk silver with it! I have a tube of 2012 Libertads that I could probably trade in for 30 generic ounces, and some pandas and Chris Duane rounds that I could flip.
I bought loads of the UK £20 for £20's, worst investment ever. They sell for under £20 on eBay. Very smart move to sell yours and and buy some bitcoin. Wish i though of that 😎
It's hard thing to decide because you cant go back. If you sold off your silver shield's and pandas and then wanted them back, you have to pay.
I guess we can't have our cake and eat it too
I think having some odd rarities brings something extra to the stacking. In the end half of the fun of stacking is to be like Smeagol and check on your precious coins once in a while, and it's more fun if there are some that stand out a bit
Most of my best stuff will go into a keeper stack that is forever. I always order something different with every order to keep it interesting.
