# 123 - Delaware
Continuing our series of the American Half Dollars Commemoratives, we will today present the 1936 "Delaware".
As all the commemorative half dollars, it weights 12,5g with a 90% silver purity.
This coin commemorates the 300th anniversary of the landing of the Swedish colonists that arrived in Delaware Bay in 1638. A 1936 coin that was minted in 1937 to celebrate something that only should be celebrated in 1938...
The obverse depicts the Old Swedes Church at Wilmington, dedicated in 1699 and still in use.
The reverse shows the Kalmar Nyckel, the ship in which the Swedish colonists arrived in Delaware.
A total of 20,993 coins were minted and distributed. The actual price is around U$240.00 in this grade.

There are seven traditional commemoratives that show ships and one of them, the Pilgrim, depicts the Mayflower. All will be shown in this series.
