in #steemsilvergold8 years ago

I'm back on track with the intro to silver stacking posts after the vacation. I have a few ideas left to finish it off, but don't hesitate to offer any suggestions.

Where to buy Silver

This is often the first question people ask, I'm sorry I took so long getting here, but I do really think it's good to have all that background info before you just right in. It's easy and tempting to make a large big purchase and there's always the chance you will buy all the wrong stuff then regret it. Which is exactly what I did if you want to read about it here.

Anyways I'm mostly going to give you the quick and dirty without getting to much into the weeds, there are lots of places and some should be reserved for once you know a bit more. If you want the full story here's a blog on our website.

Beginner Level

If your a beginner or just starting out. I would strongly suggest buying from a reputable dealer. Most have good deals, a huge variety and are "REPUTABLE". Really that's pretty much the whole post. I think you really need to focus on the reputable part when your new, it's very easy to get taken advantage of and there is so much fake silver floating around.

Either a big online retailer or your local coin shop(LCS) are going to be your best bet. Even the local coin shop sometimes doesn't have the best prices, but sometimes they do, but they do usually check out what they buy and sell pretty well and have a reputation to worry about. I don't have much experience with a LCS, but hear lots of stories about good deals and how to best befriend them, plus it's a great place to learn when you are new.

I would strongly suggest against, ebay or private sales starting out. Of course reputable dealers or sellers with great feedback can be found on ebay, there are also lots of fakes coming out of China with places with good feedback, or even declaring they are coated or clad or replica. There are lots of ways to indicate "not real"if your not reading all the fine print.

Online dealers

If your in Canada, I have my list in this post here so I won't repeat it.

If your in the US I will list a few of the biggest ones. I've never purchased from any here in Canada, but these are all the pretty highly regarded ones I feel very comfortable telling you about.

https://www.apmex.com/

https://www.jmbullion.com/

https://www.providentmetals.com/

Sorry I skipped over all the other options, but like I said "introduction", stick around #steemsilvergold and I'm sure you'll hear of a few more

Gainesvillecoins.com and Goldenstatemint.com are very reputable in my experience as well as the 3 you mentioned (cheaper than apmex as well)

Awesome, thanks for the additional recommendations.

Nice one buddy! I've heard The Pheli Mint sometimes has some good deals going from time to time ;)

Thx man, Only for collectors though, who want the coolest and more unique stuff. If you want straight bullion close to spot, best look elsewhere.

True that! I need more bullion, but some of the collectibles are so good-looking!!

@phelimint Great Advice to help Newer Stackers in dipping their toe into the pool. Never get FOMO there will always be another train leaving the station.

Also great advice man! thx.

Excellent article. I wish this advice was around when I started collecting. A couple other good places to buy from are Kitco.com and GoldSilver.com Both are very reputable dealers.

Yeah, I also wish I knew a bit more when I got started. Also great suggestions.

Way to do it man. Beginners can just print this out

There we go, when the series is all done, I can publish an E-book!

Hiya Phil, have you and @ejr considered offering a “spot” deal? Like: if you purchase any three rounds from reg catalogue you can pick up “...” for paper spot?

Might draw in some peeps... just an idea... also, i left a couple versions of snow art in my last post for ya 😜👍

We have toyed with the idea, we may get some products made just for something like that.

Though I don't do stuff with Silver (but thanks to you I'm starting to love it!), this was still interesting to read!

Awesome, we're going to convert another stacker.

What does 'convert another stacker' mean?

We have enlighten someone else to consider buying some silver!

Oh okay we're talking about me lol
As soon as Steem hits the moon, I'll buy all the silver article there is, from ya! 😉

wow nice information , the coins are beautiful , but i like 1kg slabs hehehehe... ;-)

@adityajainxds

Those big ones are pretty sweet for sure.

I have some on the way from @pit-bullion in the next week. First order from him and he seems to have some good prices. Thanks for all your hard work for the SSG community and goodnight! It's way past my bedtime but I've been slacking on my posts and that's gotta change.

I'm happy to be changing over to delegating to STAX instead of donating. delegation is a new venture for me and it's done me pretty well so far! I like being able to add to her power in this way. My vote's headed your way in about 10 minutes.

Thx man, Pit is great to buy from too, I have a bunch of his stuff as well.

I see your GYM Rewards io referral banner is already on point here... So, what are your thoughts on it so far?

From the fact the banner is here I'm thinking good?

In regards to the use of GYM rewards it is still in ICO stage, but I'm looking forward to the full release. I'm giving a bounty campaign a try and see if I can get a few referrals maybe. I seen a few other's with a simple banner, I'll definitely let you know.

Yeah, I will stay out of this ICO, as I said previously I think it could be abused easilly like its predecessor... but if it works Ill definitely use it!
