in #steemquest6 years ago

Finding themselves in the service of the Elven Lord Darkcloak, a new band of adventures on the urging of their dwarven companion find themselves within the Local Tavern (The drunken goat).

Our new band consists of:

@aussieninja - the dwarven warrior always ready for a fight and a mug of fine ale
Thunk - the large human barbarian. Short on words but big on loyalty
@happyme - a young wizard ready to make a name for himself
Zarvagos - the elven mage with an unknown past

Knowing the Lord Darkcloak will be calling upon them to complete their 5 indentured quests our group is finding a few minutes to share stories and a drink.

Note: Feel free to role play this out, I will respond when needed for NPC’s to this post.

New Rules I updated the rules and added a link. Some of the updates are a dwarven axe item (@aussieninja) you can switch out if you like and new rules for resting.

I am also working on a google doc with the characters sheets all readily available for reference.

Let’s play

Ay maties... looks like I've finished me ale, I'll go to the bar to get us another round... I'm sure you'll finish by the time I get back... or in the case of our elf, start.

Oi, barkeep... once you've finished serving that blond bear, can I get 4 ales? Oi, what do you lot want?

Hmm, looks like someone's left a beautifully crafted dwarven axe by the bar... I'll just leave this ugly human mace in it's place, no else around here can appreciate this little beauty.

OI! You by the door... adults only, no miners, ha ha ha.

During you long drinking surge you have run a few kegs dry. You notice the old man behind the bar leave to go to the basement to restock the bar.

The old man is taking way too long... ma beard is drying up. Where did he go? I'll help him carry the kegs up quick smart, I'll be back in a sec.

Wait for me Dwarf! We are gonna need a couple of strong backs to haul up THIS load.

I joined up a few hours ago and since I don't even have a sprite yet, let's do something to stir things up.

As time passes in the tavern I arrive, cloaked to the brim, tired from my trip from the forest... I get close to the group and say:

"Can any of you gentleman get me a drink?"

While moving my fingers over my thirsty lips and throat.

"My master said that adventurers should always help people in trouble" I continue.

"I suppose you gentlemen will be willing to do some quests to help people out?" I ask in a soft voice.

"I come from the forests and I'm in dire need for money and I need work, who is the leader of this group?"

And thus the bomb was set, Lorelei knew that they were beginners and they hadn't decided on a leader yet, so she could push her way in.

Here are the avatars (sprites) I have for you to choose from.

The one to the left please :D

Hahaha, Oi! Young Lady! Having a leader assumes that we think or plan before acting, hahaha.

Chatting at the table, I tell a little about myself:
I'm an elf mage fresh out of magic school. I come from a place called Stoney River, at the North-East end of the Faery Forest. I've had kind of a rough life, so I'm not adverse to a bit of a fight. When I heard about these quests that the King needed completed, I figured I could lend a hand and test out some of the skills I've been taught at magic school. So here I am, ready and eager for my first assignment. I'm young and have nothing, so what have I got to lose? The only things I own are the clothes on my back and the this school ring.

BTW, thanks for buying me the beer. I'll try and pay you back after I make some money.

You notice that many of the patrons have run the kegs behind the bar dry. The old man tending bar locks his safe and heads down to get some more.

Hahaha, that safe is a joke to any Dwarf in these lands..

Thunk

Hollering to the Dwarf at the bar:
Hehe. The Miner couldn’t keep pace with me. I placed him there an hour ago when he passed out. Had to make room for some “mates” that could hang like a good stout Dwarf. What’s your name anyway?
Talking to the table:
Now this guy can hold his own!
Hey grab this new guy something to get him caught up. Haha... ‘Gentlemen”? This guy has a lot to learn.

So you’re looking for adventure and coin. Couldn’t care less about the coin... but give me something to swing at and I’m there! Hey Dwarf, you’d better grab an itty bitty mug for this elf. I don’t think those scrawny arms can lift a real mug.

Hahahaha! I don't care much for humans, but you Thunk, I like you. Me name is Erirnaeg Trollbrow, and I've got a new axe to try out... let's find us an adventure. WHERE DID THE BARMAN GO? OI! BARMAN!

During you long drinking surge you have run a few kegs dry. You notice the old man behind the bar leave to go to the basement to restock the bar.

Zargavos sits quietly at the table. Beneath his hood, it's hard to tell if he's paying attention to anything, but occasionally he shifts restlessly in his seat.

His father would have said that no self-respecting magician would become an adventurer, and no self-respecting elf would find himself in such an establishment.

"... maybe if he hadn't pampered me so much as a child I wouldn't have gotten into debt when I went off to the academy. How was I to know that they'd want to be paid back? Yes, yes, it's all his fault..."

Thunk gets up from the table to follow the Dwarf to find the Barman. A little too much ale causes a bump into the table with Zarvagos. Trying to play it off I grab his cloak and say, ‘C’mon elf. Let’s go have some fun’.

Zarvagos looks over Thunk for a moment.

"Very well, I suppose you won't take no for an answer. They went downstairs."

(Since I am un-mapped as of yet). Quaid stands outside the tavern entrance, shifting his feet awkwardly. His inner voice chastising himself, "Adventuring? Am I ready for this? How does one even find a group to quest with? What if they are all a band of cut throat murderers waiting for an idiot like me to wander into their midst...?"

While the barman is down in the cellar, I casually make my way around the room, checking things out as best I can without drawing attention to myself. Of course, with most patrons drunk, nobody is paying much attention to me anyway, so I'm able to pretty much search everywhere. I'm looking for anything out of the ordinary or just something that has been left where I can help myself to it if it looks like something I may need.

It looks like a small gold rock has fallen onto the floor near the gold miner

Oh, oh, oh.... my 1st find! I stealthily use my foot to kick the rock farther away from the gold miner, then deftly swoop it up and claim it for my own.

Now, depending on how the gold miner appears, I may approach him/her and ask if they might have dropped something. I could create an alliance and friend this way. However, if the miner seems unkind and unappreciative, I might simply keep the gold nugget.
