Cycling through… Iran • Persia (DTube)

We had a very long 4 months travel in Iran. Everything we did was new to us: visiting mosque, eating Persian cuisine, speaking & reading Farsi, and even understanding the local slangs! Although we had a long stay here, we went through a tough time coping with the thief of $1000 travel money. With most bad news on our mind, we didn't share or capture much from our camera. Only in the last month in Iran did we felt back to normal and started sharing Instagram stories again.

Brief Descriptions of the Clips

1. We met a great guy from southern Iran who helped us out so much. He got us the last visa extension which we absolutely needed, and his friends showed us a great time together in Shiraz and Gerash.
2. It was very nice to meet other tour cyclists in one place. All 7 of us had been, or currently on a cycling tour!
3. We finally met up with Alice and Canton, whom we later cycled together at the end of Iran and also Iraq.
4. In Shiraz we visited the Holy Shrine which had some very shiny interior. The reason behind the broken mirror wall is for the people to look at it and see oneself as imperfect - as we're all imperfect in our own many ways.
5. In Dezful we went over one of the oldest known bridges still safe for public use!
6. Later Pheng discovered an awful tear on his bike frame which required a permanent fix. We took it to the "doctor" to bring it back to shape! The mechanics were great to us, giving us tea and cake. We really enjoyed visiting them and they probably liked having a foreigner visit them.
7. We joined up with Alice and Canton. It was getting to spring so the weather was wet and wild. The passes were still covered in snow.
8. We found such an idyllic camping spot by the highway one evening. It was quiet and no rubbish in sight!
9. In Pallingan the farmers would bring their herd through the streets of the village and it is very amusing watching them walk over everything, meehing and baaaing as they go.
10. Our last city was Marivan where we had a wonderful Kurdish family host us. We made them dumplings as a thank you and formed a part of their family. We missed them darely.
