The high contrast

In photography, High Contrast is the name given to photographs that present a great difference between light and dark. They are photographs with a great luminous intensity that generates the most marked shadows in the objects and a greater definition of their shape.

One of the typical cases of photographs of High Contrast, are by nature the photography of beach, a strong sun in the middle of the sky, totally clear sky and a sand that reflects the light and makes crazy the photometer of the camera, it is more or less a hell to capture, but not so much when you take advantage of the qualities of the High Contrast in your favor and unexpectedly intense results are achieved.
Because yes, the first instinct when seeing a picture of High Contrast is to lower all the Contrast to be able to play a little more with the colors and shadows. This is a clear example of a low contrast photograph.

But it can be forgotten in the process, that what by nature makes the photo unique is being altered, with a touch of documentary if you want to think. So after getting frustrated editing these color photographs without getting any results that I liked, I decided to accept their nature and take that High Contrast to the extreme. With black and white being par excellence the exponent of the form in its purest state: that of light and shadow.

The game started with a certain delicacy and smoothness, which increased due to the possibilities that a good RAW photograph can give you in black and white.

The advantage of RAW photography speaking of High Contrast lies in how much information you have in those High Lights and in those intense Blacks of your photography, giving results as in photography 2 and 3 that intermediate between a High Contrast, the sky and the interior of the house, without having to lose the grays, the information of the face, the window and the photograph dazzles by its clarity but also by its intensity.

Two parts of a coin, to see an attempt at developing fleeing from the High Contrast, are the photographs of Carmen on the beach, and a clear difference between the evening sun and the midday sun of the Caribbean. These photographs on the beach have undoubtedly helped me to sharpen my eye in all terms of light and shadow.
