MASS ADOPTION IS INEVITABLE

in #steemplus6 years ago (edited)

When we talk about crypto currencies becoming mainstream I honestly feel it is a matter of time. I am not saying that because I love crypto or am on here either. The market is small compared to the normal exchanges handling stocks and shares but anything new has it's doubters. It is human nature to dig your heels in and fight whatever is changing your world as you know it. The change is happening right now and there are still lots of heels digging in, but will cave in with mass adoption.

We just have to look over the last 20 years or so and look how every day life has changed. When it happened then it wasn't normal and it took time. I can remember the smaller towns in England with the High street shops and take a look now. The larger supermarket chains have come in but situated themselves on the edge outside the towns taking the traffic away from the smaller shops. There was a lot of unhappy people and so many complaints. Those High Street shops have changed into bustling restaurants and specialist shops now so the High Street remains but has had a face lift.

Mobile phones/Cell phones in the early nineties were a fashion accessory for those that could afford them and were not on the must have list. Fast forward 20 years and every one has one and the younger generation possibly would go into melt down if it disappeared tomorrow. Remember the walk man and it disappeared as quickly as it arrived. The video player, DVD's hence Blockbuster's demise. Change happens and more changes are coming for all sorts of businesses.

Christmas this year will be a first for me as most of my present buying will be done in front of the screen. No more running around on the 24 th having to take what is left. Many people have been doing this more and more and the shopping malls that were guaranteed a bumper festive season are going to feel the change. Big name shops will disappear or move more onto online and scale own the size of their retail business. Job losses will happen ,but those jobs will move into other sectors like warehousing and distribution.

Technology moves at such a pace and people are fed up with the banks and governments. They have abused systems and laws not giving a damn for their customers and supporters. People have had enough and the use of block chain is here. I would love to take a snapshot into the future and I am sure it will all be crypto money but the question is which ones. Not all can survive and only a handful will become mainstream. The issue we all have now is working out which horse to back as whoever gets that right will most likely have financial freedom.

I love the sentiment of this blog post! Mass adoption is certainly on the way and I think that people often do not realize how there are so many legitimate projects entering the space. I think it is crazy that I didn't know what Steem was before this week, even though I have owned various alt coins over the last year. I remember when dogecoin was being developed and thinking that blockchain technology wouldn't have any visual impact on my life several years ago, and here we are in 2018 with all kinds of use cases already on the market.
Steemit, so far in my experience, is very interesting. It feels a lot like a streamlined form of reddit in a juvenile status. The fact that it offers visual and meaningful reward to the use of the site is such a great concept!

Well I am glad you are here now. The trick is to get your head down and grow before everyone hops on.

I think adoption is good for everyone, but certainly nice to have something developed in advance.

howdy sir cryptoandcoffee! well sir I love the thought of steemit lasting and steem sky-rocketing in price. A year from now we may be on top of the world!

Hi @janton. I think a year is too early and it should take around 5 years at least, but then again who knows.

oh ok. hey I heard that in the new hardfork they were getting rid of the rep numbers, have you heard that? and do we have access to the hardfork changes?

Hi @janton. The site you delegated to last night are working on a new ranking system. It is not ready yet but yes changes going to happen. This hardfork is more about making it easier for new users to join, a little quicker.
The big one though was an author of a post can't vote for the first 15 minutes (self vote). So many vote their posts immediately taking any curation away from their voters. It sounds really good.

oh that's great to hear sir cryptoandcoffee, about the faster joining, it should be as quick as any other site.

You have a way with words my friend, If this takes off I think a couple hundred steem could be a life changer!

I think we need more than that. 5000-10 000 would definitely do it and more would be better. I am not setting any targets and just going to do as much as I can.

My goal is 5,000 so I can be a bigger fish, after that, I may use my liquid earnings to diversify into other things.

Sound like a smart move. No one knows what is going to happen but I genuinely think Steem is one of maybe 5 that is going to make it. The latest post from steem-ua has made me a little more positive and is a game changer .

Lol the walkman, dang that was one fine gadget, now all that can be fit into a mobile phone, not to talk of these wristwatches capable of doing the same and even more.

The issue we all have now is working out which horse to back as whoever gets that right will most likely have financial freedom.

For me, this steem horse is one heck of a horse to ride, did you notice the social media blast about steem that was organised by timcliff yesterday? Big things on the way

if the bitcoin core team stopped infighting then we would be there faster. Ethereum looks like the better choice for mass adoption but it has scalability issues. Since when can you bring millions of dollars around the word in a USB key. This is how it is going to get big. One currency. The developing countries and the ones in trouble like Venezula and Turkey have all seen heavy investment into bitcoin. You are right. It's only a matter of time. Once they sort out the volatility they are good to go. I don't want to go into a dealership with the price of a BMW on my USB and walk out with a Ford Fiesta. It needs to become more stable

I can picture you running and sweating doing the paperwork and watching the charts lol.

Been there done that. I do some stock day trading and went to crypto then . Had some highs and lows as you do . It’s impossible to call. It actually gets stressful waiting for the markets to turn so I just hold now and use bots To trigger a take profit . Couldn’t be arsed staring at a screen all day.

I used to before it was stolen lol. Was getting tiring though. This is way better to make some coins though.
