Welcome to our Weekly Update! We have so many exciting news to share to you today! First one on the list is the changes on the Featured Content part of our weekly post.
Davao Daily
Our weekly Featured Content just got better as we decided to make hunting for awesome content writers, from the Davao Region, a daily habit. Since Monday last week, we have been featuring posts made by authors from Davao Region. This has much to do with the launch of @steemph.curator, which aims to reward content based on the following criteria.
- Over 300 Words
- Use of Basic Formatting
- At Least 3 Photos Used to Complement the Text
- Clarity (thought organization and overall presentation)

Free Art Workshop For Kids
It all started with @kennik's post ART: As a Form of BLESSING and How We Share it #2 A Pledge to Help, where he shared that he and a group of artists will be giving free art workshops for kids in the city. He used this as a proposal to @steemph.davao and of course, it was approved. After more than a month of preparations, Kin and his friends conducted the art workshop today in Matina Aplaya aimed at the Badjao community there.
The objective was for the kids to properly channel their expression aside from harnessing and honing their skills in the art. However, our artists experienced language limitations as very few in the community speak the Bisaya dialect. They decided not to go on with the workshop but still distributed the art materials that the children will be able to use in school.
Said to be mostly from Sulu, the Badjaos are known as sea gypsies – their lives depended mostly from the sea’s fishing resources. But with the growth of commercial fishing, many of them went out of work and resorted to peddling and begging in the city’s streets. There are over 500 of them in this area alone. ~Rappler
Our participation in this simple outreach event was made possible through your warm response to our previous post about this project. We'd also like to give a big shout out to @deveerei, @jacinta.sevilla, @artguild, and @steemph for joining us in raising the funds.
Power-UP Brigade
In our last weekly update, we presented the Dabawenyos who joined the Power-UP challenge.
But on Feb 17, we received a request from @iamkuyaj to participate in the challenge. Since this initiative's aim is to encourage Steemians to power-up, we decided to let him join under the condition that his starting point will be on that day, unlike the others who have a starting point of Feb 12.
Using @arcange's SQL database, we will determine the amount of SBDs that each of these participants used to increase their Steem Power between the period of Feb 12 10AM MNL to Mar 14 10AM MNL. We will reward the 3 Steemians who used the most number of SBDs..

Top 2 - 3 SBDs
Top 3 - 2 SBDs

Power up brigade sound so cool!! How can I join?

We'd love to have you in our Power-Up Brigade!
The challenge started on Feb 12. Participants will have until March 14 to power up as much sbd as they can (whether you earned or bought them doesn't matter as long as you used those to power up). We'd like to have as much participants as we can since the aim of this initiative is to make you put value to your upvotes that will in turn support other steemians. We can still let you join but we'll have to count the sbds you turn to SP from today until March 14. So technically, you have fewer number of days to accumulate sbd that you can use to power up, but if you're ok with that, I will add you to our list and hopefully, you'll still be one of the top 3 and get rewarded.
