From a great idea, to an epic fail🤣🤣

Hedgehogs' day!

I've always wanted them to roam in the garden, as they should be, so, today I have decided to take them out of their cages. A day out in the garden!

My niece bought a pair of them about March this year and from a couple, they have grown to 6. Still December, yet the 4 off-springs are already adults. All males are in a separate cage.

A palace-ground creation, a picture story

Already a week since arriving in the province, can't helped but wander to this part of our backyard, now a junk yard due to my brother's furniture-making business.

It is doing well from the looks of it, which is great! But this.

Well as before, our yard were full of just untouched newly cut logs, ready to be used for furnitures. We have a lot less junks than we do now.

Inspirational?

We can do stuff with those wood, right? In the old, old days, we use smaller pieces to cook, light a bonfire and give them away to whoever needs them. Then an idea was born.

Brilliant moment there!!

Et voila!!

Easy peasy, right?

Would anyone prefers this than being in the cage? A palace ground, won't you think? Well, a play ground! A play pen?

Aren't hedgehogs a cousins of the rats? They would need a space to roam, i would have thought. Fresh air than stuffy?

Isn't she cute???

Be very mindful when touching them. Although their quills are flattened when unthreatened, they can really hurt on sudden appearance.

Very sharp too based from a pricked finger, it bled. As a protective mechanism, it is very much effective.

Hedgehogs when approached, they do stop, curl into a ball and show-off their quills. Cute but deadly.

And roam they did...

...for less than 5 minutes.

Seriously?

They've got to be kidding me!

They don't run like rats, but boy, they can scuttle fast going into corners! Is it their comfort zone to find nooks and corners to hide? What's wrong in the open spaces? Surely, it is way better than being in a cage.

Plotting against me you two?😂

Snubbing me in the end.

And here they are in one corner. In wanting to get out of the pen? Or go back to the cage?

Two went back to their cage not so long ago after. The other two disappeared after leaving them sleeping.

Till the time of writing, 1 is still missing.

Epic!

Very sweet.
Never thought of them like pets.
But I would also have a big garden...
Thanks for sharing

You're welcome, thanks for stopping by🙂

Wow they are soooooo cute. I have such fond memories of bringing up a hedgehog from yhe wild. Thanks for sharing these awesome photos!!!

Thanks @sallybeth23...i still like your camera!

They are smarter than one would think, watch out!

Aren't they indeed!! 🤣

Oh I have always wanted to have hedgehogs in my garden. Eat up all the nasty slugs, and cute as can be.

They eat slugs? Had no idea😂

I think I read long time ago that they eat grubs, and were good for gardeners.

Is that right? Perhaps they don't need to be in the cage!

Keep an eye on them. I have no idea how to raise them or keep them safe.

The one missing was found outside the house...where it's not really safe. They can get so tiny too.

Too cute. I want one!
Love how they were planning their escape and you didn't see it coming. Never underestimate the power of spikey animals ;)
(did you find him?)

Our neighbour did!!! it went out of the garden..then out of the house🤣🤣🤣🤣

HA! Sneaky lil' one

Along the road😓😓

They are so cute👌👌

They are, thanks for stopping by☺

If I remember correctly, hedgehogs are nocturnal so would want to hide during daylight hours - perhaps this was the problem?

They look lovely, btw. :)

They are? Then you're probably right!!!

Yes they are nocturnal. Usually they want to be under shade or tight place when it is day time.

Ay di ko knows🤣🤣

Atleast your learning along the way ehehe. Ano mga pagkain binibigay mo?

My nephew feed them with some worms..kinda cute coz theyre very colorful.Buy nya.

You can feed them fruits for treats and some vegetables.

I had 2 females and 1 male. They went from 3 to 15 hedgehogs. I gave them out to my friends. I might buy one for keep when I'm done with board exam. Missing them now.

U can keep a male for keeps or 2..di na manganganak😊😊

Next time hehe. Di ko na sila maalagaan kapag ngayon ako bibili. Hanapin ko pala pictures nila. Post ko.

Oh not now..but later. Post mo nga..cucute nga nila😃

Ung mga babies nya meron sakin. Parang alien haha. At nagffeed sila kay mommy.

Yeah..mga babies so flat and tiny. Walang kamuang-muang🤣

Eto ung babies nya. Medyo malaki na sila dyan. Around 3 weeks old.

Yeah..we saw 2 babies those size before, like 2 wks old. Mas malake malake pa mga balbon lolsss

cutness overloaded :)

indeed they are😄😄

My niece bought a pair of them about March this year and from a couple, they have grown to 6.

Feel sorry for the male hedgehogs, it must be extremely hard to procreate. they probably have track marks all over.

They were separated to stop them pro-creating, that's all😉😉
