How to Get the Most Value Out of Steem Monsters - Trading Tips Inside!
Over the past couple of weeks, I've sold Steem Monster cards for a total value of more than 300 Steem. While I was checking out the market, I've seen people who were either selling their cards way to cheap and also people who were asking way too much.
Aside from that, many people are still buying booster packs from Steem Monsters directly, rather than using services that offer discounts for each pack sold.
Buy Packs at a Discount!
If you want to become a successful card seller, you better not pay full price for booster packs. If you didn't know already, you can buy booster packs from Smartsteemat a discount. You'll save $0.10 per pack that you buy, this really adds up if you're buying booster packs regularly.
SmartSteem splits their referral earnings with its members, so that's why they're able to offer pack cheaper than Steem Monsters itself.
Price Discrepancies for High Level Cards
When you're browsing the Steem Monsters market, don't just look at the low level cards. High level cards sometimes offer way better deals, than just buying multiple level 1 cards. It's always a good idea to check for better deals between the higher level cards
In the image above you can see where you can filter out higher level cards (1). Among those higher level cards, some deals are better than others (2). In this example, the marked offer is better value, since this card has higher XP than those other cards priced at $3.00.
Memorize How Many Cards Each Level Contains
Ideally, you should know how many cards are needed to reach a certain level. Without this knowledge, you're very likely to make mistakes in your pricing, when selling high-level cards. Then you can easily spot good deals when you're looking through the market.
I've found a very informative article by @oliverschmid that shows you how many cards are needed to reach a certain level. You can easily figure out how many cards that a level 5 common contains, just to give an example. Check out his article here:

Consider giving one of his recent articles an upvote, since his guide is too old to receive any rewards. I guarantee you that his guide will definitely come in handy!
Keep Track of Your Sales!
I've not yet found the perfect way to automatically keep track of your sales statistics. Currently, I've been using Peakmonsters to keep track of my card sales. Their explorer is very useful to get all the information you want about your past sales.
I would also recommend keeping track of your own card sales through a spreadsheet document. I personally record all of my card sales, together with the prices they sold for. This is definitely a must if you're looking to buy cards for selling them at a profit later on.
Thanks for the great tips. You've helped accelerate the learning curve.
Awesome post and thanks for sharing. I am happy that you have found a way to make some gains on Steem Monsters. I have tried my hand at selling some cards on the marketplace but I haven't been that successful. I have bought some cards off the market place though. Thanks for sharing the resources you use here. That will definitely come in helpful!
Thanks for the mention, @daan! :)
Have fun!
No problem, your post really helped me out! :)
I forgot about that post, I wrote a lot Steem Monsters articles. But mostly in German. I should write more in English.
