Steemit Ultimate Challenge 8 Weeks, WEEK #4 - My Steemit Experience

Before I proceed, I want to really use this opportunity to appreciate @dobartim for this contest being organized by him to reward original content and getting to hear the life experiences of people that might in one way or the other help another person.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF MY SELF
My name is Gideon Nnakude from Anambra State in Nigeria. I am a final year student of Statistics department of the Federal University Of Technology Minna, Nigeria.

I was supposed to graduate last year but because of some set back I had then, I couldn’t focus on my academics, so it resulted in me spending an extra year in school(2018). So, I decided to learn about bitcoin and altcoin trading, around late December to see if I can raise some capital to pay my school fees since I was to spend an extra year in school.
I then learnt on my own and from the assistance of people in a telegram group I belonged to. I started with the little I had, about 30 dollars but it was insignificant to really earn something good from trading. It was in the cause of my learning that I met @lordidama1 who introduced me to steemit and I started steemit. I converted the little I had on binance to 6 steem and withdrew it to my steemit account. With the need facing me, I thought I could meet up to raise my school but then it dawned on me that steemit was not a get-rich-quick platform. I felt discouraged because I really needed cash to pay my school fees and accommodation. I then made an appeal of 50 sbd with evidence of from my school portal and other info, that can be seen on this post APPEAL FOR 50 SBD TO HELP PAY MY SCHOOL FEES AND MY ACCOMMODATION FEE OFF CAMPUS

People were touched by my ordeal and then many upvoted my post but that didn’t give me the school fees then I got 20sbd from @paradise-found, @hefziba and @mickyscofield gave me 2sbd each. I felt so happy and glad because with that I was able to pay my fees.I then did a post to appreciate those who assisted me
After paying my school fees, I was left with some sbd. A week later, a friend of mine in another school in my country was rushed to the hospital and since she had no one to talk to for help, she had to send me a text, pleading if I could help her with any amount of money to treat herself. I had to sell my sbd to @olamax who Is a Nigerian that exchanges sbd for naira and pays into your account. When the money came in, I forwarded it to the lady who then proceeded with treatment with the money I sent her, I felt so happy that steemit could bring me to the point of helping others with their financial need. Some days ago, I equally called a friend of mine who has been passing through a lot of financial challenges. When I requested for her bank account details to send her some money, she was shocked and didn’t believe me until she got the alert. I also felt happy that steemit was making me financially free and bringing me to the point of helping others

STEEMIT A BETTER SOCIAL PLATFORM

Ever since I got on steemit, it has to be a good and pleasant one. My use of other platforms like Facebook and Whatsapp has greatly reduced because, on steemit, you get to socialize and still get some rewards. I have gotten to meet and discuss closely with some great people on steemit which in real life I might not have been opportune to meet. @ayobami99 is an angel that put me through basis things at my initial stage of learning about the platform and then giving me useful links which have made me study more on my own and came up with a detailed guide to help newbies and that can be seen in this lengthy post I made yesterday with detailed screenshots to help even the newest person on the platform

Also, I have come to a close friendship with @hefziba, @shikika and @themanwithnoname whom I always have an interaction with because they put up posts that allow for discussion.

ENHANCEMENT OF MY WRITING SKILLS AND THINKING ABILITY
As a student of statistics, writing was far away from the statistics I was studying in school which a bit made it hard for me to write good sentences but with my stay on steemit, I have been able to advance to some extent in my writing skill since I try to be consistent in posting every day, it has really assisted my writing

Practise Makes Perfect

Aside from assisting my writing ability, steemit has also given me an opportunity to enhance my thinking ability.As a writer whose niche is inspirational writing, articles that have to do with our day-to-day activity and also writing stories. It requires much thinking to come up with something good to inspire people to greatness and not looking at the failures they might have been through in life. So steemit has really assisted my thinking, to come up with something new on a daily basis.
