Steemit Sandwich Contest Week #91 - Monster Nessie Prawn & Smoked Mussel Nest
Some monstrous sandwiches have been made by some of our gents here on @jaybird's Steemit Sandwich Contest Week #91 by M'sieur @mondoshawan and the Laird @gguy773. @toddfoster came along with a shocker having chicken in his sandwich, is he not vegan?
So a long long time ago I was unofficially crowned Queen of Sandwiches on a Steemit Ramble Show Hungry Hungry Hump Day by a gent called @crazybgadventure, I think he was a tad crazy when he did that crowning, but nevertheless, he did.
Then along came this guy the Laird @gguy773 and threatens to dethrone this wee Lassie from the Queen's Burgh as he's facing a possible Hat Trick :)
Strangely he also hailed from the same Burgh a long long time ago I learned recently.
I do hope we have more late entries this week, have not had a peek all day but hope my friend the Bird from Paradise @birdsinparadise has joined in as the ladies need some representation here!
So although I'm a little late, but the Queen always makes a grand entrance not so, she says cheekily, I did manage to make a sandwich that almost resembles a monster, and called it Monster Nessie Prawn & Smoked Mussel Nest ;)
It's all @mondoshawan doing as he started this Monstrous Mess!
INGREDIENTS
- Tortilla Wrap
- Stir fry veggies - I used Cabbage, Sweet Red Bell Pepper, Kale leaves & Red Onions
- Butter & Olive Oil
- Garlic crushed
- Prawns
- Smoked Mussels
Veggies all sliced and ready for the pan.
Stir fry Garlic & Veggies in Butter & Olive Oil mix.
Stir fry Garlic & Prawns on high heat till transparent.
Toss all together & stir fry again to let the flavours blend, season to taste.
Heat Tortilla on both sides in an oiled hot frying pan.
Time to fill the NESSt.
Absolutely gorgeous aromas in the kitchen now - plump Prawns and the smoky flavours from the Mussels mingling with the veggies.
This one may not look like a monster but it certainly had monstrous flavours, was absolutely finger-licking good!

What an unexpected twist of a sandwich! And I agree, totally a monster of a bit to eat!
The closest I have even come to eating a seafood sandwich, excluding a fish sandwich is a clam or lobster roll, which can hardly fit in the same category. It just never occurred to me to do something so fancy and delicious looking in a tortilla! of all things!

You truly are the queen. Sauteeing cabbage and kale in olive oil and butter... I bet that pumps up the flavor. I daresay that this is one sandwich that I cannot wait to try! I may try to go to the fish market in a bit.

Really appreciate your prayers for my country, we need it! It's General Elections tomorrow so we hope it's going to be a peaceful one, usually is quite a fun but also a serious day in the queues!

Hi ES, I am posting on Whaleshares as well (cross post those to Steemit) but last week was super stressful with municipal strikes which left us without water for just over 30 hours, the workers sabotaged it, turning off valves in certain areas!
We're currently still accommodating a family who lost their home in the storms of some two weeks ago so they understood the situation, but were preparing for a honeymoon couple in our studio unit! I was having visions of us carrying bowls of hot water to and fro like Cleopatra's slaves, but the water was restored at the eleventh hour! My dream of our beautiful country thriving is slowly dying as the government is messing things up big time! These workers have reason to be upset but are going about it the wrong way!

I'm glad to hear you weren't dealing with some delayed after effects from that terrible storm. I had begun to wonder if that might be the problem. I wish there were something I could do to help. So many countries are mired in a terrible mess, mine included. One look at the headlines tells the story. (Sending prayers and positive energy!! Be brave. This, too, shall pass.)

I never had prawns in a tortilla before! Gotta try this one, Lizelle! It certainly looked delicious! Now I can't take my mind of it ;0) Gotta go shopping tonight lol

Wow, what a sandwich, I could practically taste it across the oceans! l love the stir fry prawns and veggies, a nice healthy twist of yum! Well done my friend, certainly a winner for sure :)

LOL, thank you kind sir, you really are so funny, thanks for the chuckles, needed it after some horrid days with striking municipal workers who sabotaged the water supply to some areas, ours too! Was sooo frustrating, just over 30 hours of no water!!! Water sales sky rocketed and everyone had to go visiting family to have a shower!!!! Strike still on but water supply is restored!
