Steemit Sandwich Contest #70 - Bacon & Cheese Pinwheel Christmas Wreath
Special times ahead for those of us celebrating Christmas, but let's not forget about the folk who have nothing to look forward to. Try and reach out in whatever way you can, be it a visit, a homemade gift or a meal, not just at Christmas time though, any time of the year will do.
Who would ever have thought a Sandwich Contest would ever get to Week 70, but of course it has and it's all thanks to our wonderful manwich maker @jaybird, who inspires us and rescues us time and time again here in the big ocean called Steemit, with many near-drownings of late! And then along came a lovely lady called @llfarms and saved @jaybird from drowning by a generous sponsorship :)
My sandwich this week is a baked one, a Bacon & Cheese Pinwheel Christmas Wreath, with little shards of Cheese crisps, crispy Bacon and Red grapes forming the wreath.
INGREDIENTS
- Bread dough or Short Pastry
- Apricot Mustard - check out the Recipe
- Mature Cheddar grated
- Spring Onions diced
- Bacon diced - reserve one or two rashers for garnishing
- 1 Egg beaten
Roll pastry out in a rectangle on top of cling wrap & spread with yummy Mustard
Arrange cheese & spring onions on top
Next to the party is the Bacon
Roll up tightly like a swiss roll
Slice into little pinwheels, place on sprayed baking sheet & drown in an egg wash
Bake at 180C till golden brown
Bake grated Cheese to form crisps
Arrange pinwheels on a wooden platter into a wreath shape, garnish with shards of cheese crisps, grapes & crispy fried bacon
Simple ingredients, but super delicious!
