A very big shout out to all our supporters and especially our Sponsors and Donors who are crucial in upping the prize pool each week. We'd be grateful to have any new Sponsors! Past Sponsers include @bleedpoet @artwatch @gringalicious @papa-pepper

THIS WEEKS WINNERS ARE:

There were a few Contestants worthy of recognition! But first...

First Prize Winner

@steemit-foodie

  1. For this epic entry: https://steemit.com/steemitsandwichcontest/@steemit-foodie/steemit-sandwich-contest-week-25-theme-shrimp-2nd-entry-seaweed-rice-and-shrimp-burger-with-homemade-wasabi-sauce

  2. I doubt anyone in SSC is wuprised to learn the Sfoodie is our winner this week. There were definitely a few rivals for top spot however this 2nd entry for Week 25 just destroyed.

  3. Sfoodie probably has some of the best photography of food in SSC on the whole and this entry was no different. The sandwich is portrayed beautifully. Vibrant, clear and coloured. Looks like you could reach out and eat it. Great use of photos to show all ingredients too!

  4. The sandwich itself is pretty innovative. Firstly the sandwich is breadless. Cool use of rice to get around that. Secondly, I love shrimp and thirdly the homemade wasabi sauce. That sounds incredible!

  5. you can tell that this sandwich is not only made with quality and mostly healthy ingredients, but also that it tastes freakin' amazing too! I think we are going to need some video footage of Sfoodie's husband eating some of her next creations lol.

  6. An interesting little story that goes along with this entry as well. I still cannot tell how much of it is sarcastic and how much of it is culturally true ...

  7. all hail the legend of SSC @steemit-foodie

Second Prize & the new Week 2 Veto Vote Holder:

@yesslife

https://steemit.com/steemitsandwichcontest/@yesslife/steemit-sandwich-contest-week-25-2da-entry

This is what @intrepidsurfer our week 25 Veto Voter had to say about this entries (also see below for reviews on some of the other entries

  1. Up to now my vote goes to @yesslife for both Sándwich (Choripan) and Sandwich Creole. Considering that she is living in a situation (Venezuela) that is very difficult. Most of us would freak out if we had to go through the same as that country. In light of this, I admire her determination, creativity and teaching us her local dishes. Therefore my veto vote goes to @yesslife.

Our 3rd Prize Winner For Steemit Sandwich Contest was chosen by me and goes to [Big Drum Roll]

@jsock

https://steemit.com/steemitsandwichcontest/@jsock/steemit-sandwich-contest-week-25-rice-sausage-sandwich

  1. This first timer to SSC debuted an interesting sandwich. A Rice Sausage Sandwich....hmmm Sounds interesting doesn't it!?

  2. Upon closer inspection, this giant manwich sized creation starts with a baguette and ends with tuna and rice..There's also some ham and cheese aspects going on here making me think that this entry infused several classic type sandwiches into one and then added a super distinctive ingredient (i'm talking about the rice sausage which if we are being honest I still don't really know what that is. Is it meat and rice in a sausage shape or just rice?).

  3. the overall pres was a bit rough around the edges, however it showed the necessary qualities in capturing this somewhat messy but appealing sandwich. Good play by play action, short and straight to the point. A solid first entry by this Steemian!

ACTIVE CHALLENGES OF SSC & CURRENT RECORD HOLDERS

[Challenge 1] More than 8 entries in a single contest week

Record Holder = @steemit.foodie

[Challenge 2] More than 5 different entries with same main ingredient (ie Beets)

Record Holder = @steemit-foodie

[Challenge 3] More than 5 different entries inspired by the same movie theme (ie Star Wars)

Record Holder = @nomadics

Should anyone beat any of these 3 SSC records, I will personally award them a prize TBD

Notes from @jaybird

  • All I have to say is the usual "bravo to all the contestants this week."

Featured Entries: (I will for the most part only be featuring the "Outstanding Achievement" winning entries in this section)

@intrepidsurfer - Deserves a shout out for being a serious manwich. Anything Triple decker is a win in my books! Way to go all out this wee on this fine piece of Sandwich Art!

@drobinson - I love a good gooey breakfast sandwich and this one spoke to me. The hash brown & english muffin choices were also a nice addition

@lizelle - another quirky yet satisfying creation from South Africa. You can always bet on her debuting something few of us have ever heard of or tried and producing it with great finesse. She also makes up a solid entry with great anecdotal bits and lots of photos.

THANK YOU ALL FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE FIRST EVER THEMED SSC WEEK! IF YOU HAVE ANY THEME IDEAS PLEASE LET ME KNOW. WE"LL TRY IT AGAIN IN FEBRUARY!

SELECTING WINNERS!

  1. @jaybird: I select the winners based on a variety of parameters. Just do your thing and have fun with it. I'm considering many factors such as presentation, ingredients & originality, creativity, community opinion & artistic ability just to name a few. PLEASE make sure to follow the rules! They are easy to follow and help prevent the tragedy of Null entries!

  2. There are now 3 prizes. First Prize = roughly 50% of the prize pool

  3. Second Prize dubbed the "Veto Vote" = roughly 25% of the prize pool + the honour of selecting the following weeks second prize winner. This prize is ideally given to an entry that although it did not win the contest, showed distinction among all the other entries. This could be a feature such as it was the community favourite, it used the most bazaar ingredients, or, it was just the best looking sandwich etc. IMPORTANT! The "Veto Vote" holder may not vote on his or her own sandwich to be selected as the second prize. However, they are still eligible to win First Prize should they enter the contest that week.

  4. Third Prize will be roughly 15% of the prize pool

  5. Roughly 5% of the pool goes towards the "Outstanding Achievement Awards"

Week 26's Veto Vote holder is: @yesslife and was selected by @intrepidsurfer who was week 25's Veto Vote holder. Thank you both for your participation!

  • IMPORTANT! "Veto Vote" holders must always present their final selection to @jaybird in confidence and allow the news to be revealed in an officially "Who Won Steemit Sandwich Contest" blog post. Deviation from this method will result in a forfeit of the Veto Vote and thus, the selection will be consider null and a new winner will be chosen by @jaybird.

  • Veto Voters can contact @jaybird through discord jaybird#4732 or Steemitchat username: jaybird. If for whatever reasons, the Veto Vote winner does not select an entry in the following weeks contest, I will be the default second prize selector for that week.

@jaybird reserves the right to alter the contest rules and structure as necessary.

Congratulations to everyone, but... that rice & shrimp burger by @steemit-foodie looked absolutely amazing, I just love shrimps & wasabi! Thanks for the mention @jaybird, look forward to the next challenge :):)

My Pleasure, your entry was awesome too! It was a difficult week as it always is choosing. However.. For the first time in a long time the winner seemed a bit more clear to me lol.

Well deserved @steemit.foodie , seriously you should pretty much win every time by default...

lol, I have definitely thought these thoughts ;)

@jaybird is [Challenge 2] More than 5 different entries with same main ingredient (ie Beets) 5 entries with the same ingredient in a week or overall ?

Yea so it's more than 5 entries, so at least 6 (because 5 is the record currently) in the same SSC week using the same major ingredient.

So if you were to check out SF's entries for that week you would see that Beets dominated all of here creations. She used them in variety of different ways and also different types of beets if I recall correctly.

Just thinking if you're going for that record, you might as well go for the big 8 entries in 1 week as well lol ;)

Also, if you do something particularly distinctive (that probably isn't easy for anyone to repeat) it might become a challenge. If you make a challenge, I might accept it... That's how all of these came into existence.

An entrant did something no one else came close to doing before,

That's pretty crazy, but it would make sense and it will have to be 9 entries to beat the 8 in a week challenge...

If you do 6 with one ingredient, you might as well do 9 overall, because you're not going to do 6 every week and with 6 you're more than halfway already...

So 6 of the same ingredient + 3 more, to go to 9...

Same ingredient means it just has to be present in those sandwiches, or quantitatively if you weigh the ingredient, it has to be the heaviest so to speak...

The question might sound stupid, but just checking on the rules.

"If you make a challenge, I might accept it..." by that you mean something new not the things discussed above right ?

6+3 sounds good, although it definitely needs some thought and planning...

Do wraps / pita bread count as sandwiches in this contest ?

Haha i like ur enthusiasm on this.

So ya you could basically make 6 with the same main ingredient (it just has to be used dominantly in the sandwich and in different ways. For example u cannot just make the same sandwich 6 times.

So like u couldn’t just put an olive on the sandwich and be like yea 6 olive sandwiches.

U could instead make an olive paste for 1, olive salad, bake meat in olives for another hahaha ewwwww. U get it? Supposed to encourage creativity and sandwich content more than anything

And then if ur goin for 9... well then the last 3 do not have to be with that ingredient. Although if u did.. that would probably be an untouchable record. And U’d win both challenges lol..

Oh man... this is getting intense

"For example u cannot just make the same sandwich 6 times."

Definitely not, and you perfectly explained it with the olives.

Was thinking more along those lines...

An olive would be a "secondary" ingredient, but I think it would be very well or even better suited for this type of challenge than a main ingredient like bacon, so you answered the question perfectly...

Was thinking of doing the 6+3, but now that you tossed the 9 of 9 and winning 2 challenges in one swipe, this is getting enticing...

This week definitely not... and since you said week 27 is themed, it will have to be either week 26 or 28...

I'm pondering, I'm pondering...

:)

Ya mon take ur time, doesn’t look like either of those challanges r getting taken down anytime soon unless by u. ;)

I think i found the ingredient...

Do wraps / pita bread count as sandwiches ?

Does the sandwich have to be closed ( one piece of bread, or two pieces of something ) or one is enough

na man... pretty much anything goes. If your intention is to make a sandwich, it's probably all good

Well done everyone and congratulations @steemit.foodie

your manwich was epic last week brother!

thank you thank you @jaybird , but you are right about @steemit.foodie. Like no contest to the rest of us. But she has set the bar higher.

Woow I'm surprised and very happy I did not think it would get that far, With great effort I made these sandwiches here in Venezuela, the situation is very complicated
I'm a cooking student and it's a somewhat expensive race, I'm even thinking about leaving it because my income does not reach me to eat and pay for school, the topic here with the food is very strong everything costs much more than our salary With this award I'm going to help a little to see how far I can go with my studies
I made a lot of effort for the photos since I do not have a phone because of the same situation it costs a lot of money
Believe it or not 1 $ SBD is worth a lot here a single SBD to change is more than a minimum wage
I am very grateful to you Thank you @intrepidsurfer and thanks to you @jaybird and all the sponsors for this contest

You deserved it. For whatever reasons, your entry spoke/stood out to our Veto Vote Holder @intrepidsurfer.

That's the beauty of this 2nd place reward. You get to allot the prize to someone you think deserves it.

We're glad you are here on Steemit. It's become apparent in the past year that this mechanism has the potential to help many a people all over the world who are going through financial crisis, live in third world or are just plain stumped for a way to get their content out to a community that will see it.

I've heard a few stories of it's impact in Venezuela in the past, and it's great to know that you are able to pursue your passions!

JB

Thanks I hope to finish my studies so I must continue here in steemit learning more because here you also learn and fulfill dreams

She's been kicking ass since week 1...

I think that the next themed week (week 27) is going to give everyone else but her a really good shot though.. stay tuned mwhahahaha..

What do you mean by that, does she have an Achilles heel ingredient she can't/won't cook with ?

You’ll see ;)

Great choices, nice winners... must get lunch now...

@jaybird great effort ....it is looking so amazing, i very hungry after seeing this. @steemit.foodie deserves for this

Amazing sandwich i like it @jaybird

Woot! Awesome entries, looking forward to this week's! Thanks @jaybird! :D
