๐ŸŽต ๐Ÿ”ŠUPDATE: The FIRST Steemit BLOCKCHAIN HOUSE MIX collaboration - #Wednesdayhouse movement!๐ŸŽต ๐Ÿ”Š

in #steemithousemix โ€ข 7 years ago (edited)

A few weeks ago an idea was born to create the first collaborated steemit DJ mix! The original post proposed a collective effort from the #wednesdayhouse steemit community to create a 'back2back' style mix, each adding our own selected track to create a final mix of no less than 1 hour in length. Although quite a different project it's worth checking out @anomadsoul's karaoke style Dtube mix for a good comparison!

There has been a lot of interest in how to become part of the project, but also a bit of confusion. Hopefully both can be covered in this post!

So far in the project we have interest from:

@uwelang
@deeptechhouse
@armageddonparty
@iamevilradio
@lukecreed
@andyjaypowell
@mikenero
@youareyourowngod

To have this amount of people already is awesome, and there may be a few more that are keen from the #wednesdayhouse movement due to Andy's recent Vlog post (unfortunately I can't translate the German comments so I'm unsure if anymore interest was raised this way!)

The idea...

An updated Vlog post from @andyjaypowell a few days back gave a great analogy of how this is going to work.

The concept is similar to that of a blockchain in a way that each time a block is filled it becomes a permanent fixture whilst another block is built on top of it. Although imagine the data as your favourite house tracks from each individual person!

If we imagine each track is exactly 5 minutes long, user A uploads track 1 as a post on Dsound/steemit. User B then picks it up and mixes in their track (2) with track 1 it will become 10 minutes long. They then upload and post it. User C then downloads user B's mix and mixes in track 3 on to the end, it will now be 15 minutes long. It is then uploaded to the blockchain. User D downloads the mix of track 1+2+3 and mixes in track 4 (20 minutes), and the process goes on until everyone involved has been - and we should have an hour long mix with plenty of creativity and flow!

When I refer to track keep in mind it does not have to be your own production! The majority of DJ's actually play other peoples tracks when mixing so don't worry about having to suddenly become a platinum producer :)

This is an easy concept for those that are already DJ's and have the necessary equipment, since they can easily record their addition to the mix straight to a computer. In it's most simple form, it's just a case of beatmatching your track into the the current mix, recording it, and uploading to the blockchain.

Those unfamiliar with djing, can use some of the simple programs suggested here: https://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/11/djing-with-just-a-laptop/

Flare and creativity

This is absolutely encouraged. Anyone familiar with the work of Richie Hawtin, Saytek or James Zabiela (back in the CDJ days) will know just how creative and exciting you can get with your mixing. IF someone has the ability to create live tracks on the fly that would be an INSANE addition to the first blockchain mix!

However the basic's are just as fine. For some without experience or equipment (like myself) it could be just as tricky to simply beatmatch your track into the mix.

For those having trouble or that are worried they don't have the experience, one of the beautiful things about our community is that there will be someone just around the corner to help out. We can use the comments on this post below and I will also start a steemit.chat and/or discord group!

Using the blockchain and tags

Whilst it would be easy to use mixshare or another upload site to keep posting our updated mix, I think it would be just as awesome to use the blockchain APPS in steemit such as Dsound to pass the mix on to the next person. Andy had a great idea of using a tag to keep everyone involved up to date, so what I propose is each time we finish our section, upload it to Dsound with the tag #steemithousemix. This will make it easy for the next person in line to find and download the mix so far.

As with most good things, they come to those who wait - so once we start recording, until the mix is complete and finalised it would be awesome to keep a fairly low profile between those involved and only use the tags #steemithousemix and Dsound (usually because its automatic anyway!)

Get amongst it!

Remember, you don't need to be a superstar DJ to get involved. There are no huge expectations for this. It is purely a showcase of a pro-active community coming together to create something collectively on a blockchain :)

The final update

will posted after this weeks #wednesdayhouse segment to finalise those who are in and to arrange an order for people to add their tracks.

Please use to comments below to confirm if you want to be involved!!

If anyone is still struggling to understand to concept behind this please comment and i will try and explain it in further detail. I wish you all an awesome week, Legends!

Love it. Great to see it kicking off. Couple of notes, to second your response to iamevilradio, we need to know who picks up after each section, as it can quickly become different people mixing into the same part of the mix, not continuing it.

Sounds like iamevilradio has dibs on starting it off, so I'll be happy to continue it on.

Also, do we have a rule for how many tracks we're doing from each participant? Is their upper limit for tracks/runtime?

Yeeeee brother! Exciting times. Stoked to see you boy's frothing to get things started.

Because there's one more #wednesdayhouse week to go il wait until the updated post after to confirm numbers and people's slots, i'll also be able to figure out how much time we will all have each for our tracks.

Regardless, you and evil can have first dibs since you're so keen - Awesome to have you on board bro!

Sounds excellent, keep us up to date then (if I understood correctly we wanna get people lineup and then start the recording process). Love what you did with tagging on the original post, easiest way to be notified!

Awesome idea, would love to be part of this but not very tech savvy. I will take a look at the links you provided and hopefully I can join the party!

Yee brother would love to have you on board, keep me updated and let me know within the next few days :)

I am definitely still interested. Tell you what, I've got tomorrow off from work so I'll kick it off with my tracks and upload it tomorrow.

Awesome to here bro! Might be worth holding out uploading until we get the final numbers and can sort out who is going in what order.

Are you going to be using your own productions or a couple of favourites?

This idea is sick, good luck with the project! Letยดs get some DJing going

Cheers Legend!

Love the concept and consider me involved, will resteem as well and maybe gain some more interest :-D

Hey Legend, any updates on where your up to with the blockchain mix?

Stoked to have you on board man - it's going to be siiiik!

Rockin!

Iโ€™d love to get involved :-)

What are the next steps?

Sweet brother! Il add your name to the list - final update will be soon and you will be the 9th person involved. Check out the previous post's for the full details and ideas!
