Danny: The Unsmiling Dinosaur (An Original Children's Story)
Danny looked upset. His friends and families didn’t know why. He used to be the life of any party before, but one day he just changed.
His parents did everything they could to see him smile, but to no avail. They even hired magicians, entertainers, singers and clowns – but Danny remained upset. Not even the most delicious plants or the most beautiful toys could sway him. Everyone in their village is getting more and more worried about him in each passing day.
One day, a hermit happened to pass by their village. He heard about Danny’s condition so he decided to go and see if he can do anything to help him. The hermit had a strange reputation in their town but Danny’s parents are desperate. They convinced Danny to give it a try.
Danny agreed to talk to the hermit. They met in a closed room while his family and friends waited outside. Everyone is just as nervous as Danny, but the hermit is determined to know what the young dinosaur is upset about.
Minutes and hours passed by in silence before a noise caught their attention. They heard the hermit’s loud laughter from behind the closed doors. Everyone outside listened intently, they wanted to know what’s going on. After a while, the hermit’s laughter was joined by another voice, it’s unmistakably Danny’s voice!
Everyone gasped is awe while his mother couldn’t help but cry. She couldn’t believe she’s hearing her son’s laughter after a long time. The duo’s laughter continued on for hours until it was time for the hermit to go.
When the doors finally opened, Danny silently moved out, his smile is unfathomable. Before he left, the hermit talked to Danny’s mother privately.
“Is there something wrong?” Danny’s mother worriedly asked.
“Oh, no. None at all.” The hermit replied.
“Then why was he so upset? What did he tell you?”
“Your boy was just confused. But I told him that it’s normal and that it happens to everyone.”
“What is ‘it’ then?”
“He was just wondering why he was missing a tooth.”
And they both laughed hysterically.
