Defining Invertebrates
In my previous post, I already defined what vertebrate is and its 5 classifications, MR FAB: Mammal, Reptiles, Fishes, Amphibians, and Birds. Today, I am going to talk about the other basic group of higher animal and this is the INVERTEBRATES.
If vertebrate is defined as animals with backbones, invertebrates (say in-vur-tuh-brit)are animals that DO NOT HAVE BACKBONES. An invertebrate is a prefixed form. Vertebra comes from a latin word 'vertebra' means the 'joint of the spinal column of the vertebrate'and 'IN' prefix means 'not' or 'without and when combined means, NO BACKBONES.
Can you cite some examples of animals who don't have backbones?
Invertebrates have 7 classifications of animals. Sponges, Ctenophora, Cnidaria, Echinoderms, Worms, Mollusks and Arthropods.
Thank you for reading.
