THE BABY BEAVER KIT

There once was a little beaver named kit.

 Why was he named Kit? Because baby beavers are all called kits. His mother named him Kit as he was her first born little beaver and she loved him very much. 

Mother and father beavers live very happily together until one of them die. They do not mate with other Beavers as they are monogamous. "Do you know what it means"? 

It means they have a family just like humans a mother and a farther who build their houses together until they are old. Kit’s mother and father loved him very much, and they told him about the tooth fairy.  They build the funniest houses that you have ever seen.

All beavers are very good wood cutters with their big teeth and they make a house to stop water flowing from a creek. 

They live there during winter time, and they store all their food there. 

Little baby kit was waiting to get more family as his mother told him, we will have three or four brothers and sisters while it is spring time so be patient and do not walk alone outside.

 “Why must I not walk alone?” Because there are animal who will eat you and that will not be good at all. What kind of animals little Kit asked his mother will eat me, we don’t eat animals we eat grass and cane and all sorts of things, but we don’t eat animals. The mother said, there are animals that eat other animal and do not eat grass like us. 

There are wolves and other animals that just eat meat. Oh I did not know that. I will be careful and beat them with my tail.

That will be to late the mother said; your big tail will not help you against a wolf. See beavers have big flat tails that they use and they can sit up with the tail as well. 

The mother said we must start building our new home as this one is getting a little dry. Beavers look for a place with water and build a blockage so that they do have the water under their house. They all three came together and started walking looking for more places with a stream to build a house for them.

They walked at dusk, because that was the safest time for them and beavers only come out at dusk. They quickly found a new stream and started building with sticks and wood that they brought they build these very strong homes so that the water starts making a pond on the one side, to help them keep their food for the winter, as they kept their food under water to stay fresh.

I am putting a picture in here for you to see what a beaver house look like. With working very hard they finished the house and would stay there as long as the water stayed there.

Some beavers are lucky and stay for many years in the same home as humans do. Well now you know a little bit about beavers and how they run their lives. 

They do it a lot like we humans do as we also have people we call vegetarians who do not eat meat and other people do just like the wolves did.

So I really hope you enjoyed the little bit I told you about beavers and the tooth fairy, never come for their teeth but they do come for human teeth to build with.
