Refreshing Memories of Dual festival on 15 August 2017-It happens only in India!!!!-Festive Diaries

in #steemitdotcom7 years ago (edited)

This is for all my foreign friends who missed my post and who were asking me what I did on 15 th August 2017
We celebrated two events on one day i.e Janmasami (birth of lord Krishna)and Independence day.
As you all know we have many god and goddess so that’s why india is called as Planet of festival
Janmastami – the birth of Lord Krishna – is one of the biggest spiritual celebrations of the year at ISKCON temple Pune.
Part of Hare Krishna Movement. Dedicated for propagating Krishna beliefs written in Bhagavad- Gita.( scriptures)
ISKCON was formed to spread the practice of bhakti yoga, in which those involved (bhaktas) dedicate their thoughts and actions towards pleasing the Supreme Lord, Krishna.
The birthplace of Krishna on earth, Vrindavan in India, is home to over 5,000 Temples dedicated to Krishna and the practice of Bhakti Yoga – the path of loving devotional service to God.
Janmastami is a day to celebrate Krishna’s presence in our lives, to be grateful for our relationship with Him, and to join in the festival to love and honor Him.
At ISKCON Pune we have a celebration that is not to be missed! It is an event filled with music, dance, food and fun activities for the whole family.
I entered Vibrant ISKCON temple temple by chanting this Mahamantra its having name god Ram and Krishna
By chanting “Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare, we create the transcendental vibration in our consciousness

[Civilized me standing in queue]
The could see celebrations at the temple teeming with men, women and children — started at 4.30 am and continued till well after midnight.(you can see the timing in photograph).
What a Angelic Theme Décor ,Lightings are all in violet hues..
.
.Temples that house the deity are decorated with colourful clothes, jewels, garlands and flowers. Devotees visit the temples and sing songs glorifying his times and activities and recite the teachings of Lord Krishna written in the Bhagavad Gita.

The tree was decorated with Pots and Flutes.

This year, the abhishek of Lord Krishna was conducted in a tent with about 12 idols, so that the time and crowd could be managed properly,” he added.I got proper darshan without chaos.”
Numerous stalls selling religious items were set up on the roadside, outside the temple, that was thronged by devotees.
The special attraction was a stall selling the Bhagwad Gita in different languages at a discounted price of Rs60.

This is the Picture Of lords –Radha and Krishna
Krishna is described as the source of all the avatars of God.refer to Him as "the Supreme Personality of Godhead"
To devotees, Radha represents Krishna's divine female counterpart, the original spiritual potency, and the embodiment of divine love
Krishna is a Sanksrit name for God which means ‘the all-attractive One’.

After this again in the morning 7:00 a.m was ready on the college ground to celebrate independence day in a mood of joy and happiness- no rituals, just festivities.
It is also a national holiday, with educational institutions, private and government organizations remaining closed, but for official celebrations in the morning.
Our colleges celebrated the day with cultural activities, flag hoisting and distribution of sweets.

Everyone seems to have something going for them. Petty tradesmen sell a range of Independence Day special flags, stickers, tee-shirts and greeting cards.
Street urchins hawk paper and plastic flags and tri-coloured balloons to motorists at traffic signals. Though a trifle commercial and jingoistic, what lies beneath the celebrations is the national spirit of gaiety, pride and hope for a better future. A spirit and hope that is renewed each year.
I in the department celebrated with good snacks with my friends.

I am in the middle as my photos are too deceptive .we wearing blazers with Indian Flag
“All dead scientist were whispering behind my back from the old books ,
when you are going to pull us out? Give us also some independence …
I answered telepathically shut –up who read journal n books nowadays just goooogle…..its tech world with google baba”who will read you?
Indeed, it was a day to recall and thank the martyr & patriots who made possible for us to breathe the air of freedom with their continuous and strenuous efforts in the long struggle of 150 years.

Then I went to mall as lots Independence sale look what I observed there……

A colourful 'Dahi Handi'. (It’s a Pot full of Curd, flowers and some cash)
Significance of Dahi Handi
It was prophesied that the(Lord Krishna) eighth son of Devaki and Vasudev would be the cause of Kansa's death(Evil King).
The evil king had imprisoned Devaki and Vasudev, and went on to kill all their six children to prevent the prophecy from coming true.
However, on this night of Krishna's birth, Vasudeva carried Krishna to Vrindavan where Yashoda and Nanda where staying and Krishna spent his childhood there and later came back to Mathura to kill king Kansa as predicted.
At Vrindavan, Krishna was the most mischievous child, known across the village for his mischief. Krishna loved Maakhan/Makhan or white butter, curd and milk .
Krishna liked maakhan v.much and would go on stealing butter across his village as soon as it was churned, much to the dismay his mother, who had to ultimately tie him to a pole to keep him from stealing butter. The impish act earned him the name 'Maakhan Chor'.
All people in Vridavan started tying their freshly churned makhan at a greater height off the ground so that Krishna couldn't reach the pot as they thought he is too small to reach.
But all in vain. Krishna with his friends would form pyramids and reach the pots containing the milk and yogurt.
The ritual of Dahi Handi is an imitation of this mischievous actions of Lord Krishna. People surrounding the boys, sing songs and celebrate the day. The boy who stands at the top is called as Govinda and the groups are either called as handis or mandals.
The people make pyramids and touch this high sky Colored Handi and break it .

Wow supreme lord Krishna.. I love the fact that you have to forego sleep for some hours and instead sing bhajans your traditional songs I can sense so much excitement and fun in doing that, that means plenty of parades, games, music, songs and a feast at midnight so much excitement. And why midnight though was lord Krishna born at midnight or it's just an ideal time for the true festivities for some reason. Since lord kashrina loves maakhan I learnt it's butter from u, I expected you to eat Food that is prepared from milk, butter and curds since they are been favoured by Krishna, but you knw what!? I've just learnt something about you and your culture and i wish to visit the birthplace of lord Krishna in Vrindavan, India Someday. from your story about lord kashrina birth and prophecy I love the fact that Lord kashrina represent good presence, destruction of all things evil and the prevalence of goodwill.
