Hi steemit friends,

It s picnic time…for Steemit Culinary Challenge:)

Thanks to our guest judge @rebeccaryan , my kids had a lovely Sunday picnic. They also got to pick tangerine and vegetables from the garden. I guess that is a true life lesson for them.

I have made bear burgers, beef cheese balls ,garlic breads, rainbow salad cup and cake pops(was made last week)..

first lets start with my kids favorite bear burgers!

P6250024_副本.jpg

ingredients needed

2 homemade wholemeal burger buns
fresh lettuce and tomato from garden
premium quality beef mince (for patty)
half chopped onion (for patty)
1tsp olive oil(for patty)
garlic salt, 1tsp corn flour and pepper(for patty)
tomato sauce,dijon mustard
cheese,nori and sausage for decoration

I always make burger patties myself, it is easy and yummy...

Place all ingredients for patty in a bowl, add in garlic salt, olive oil, chopped onion , cornflour and pepper, mix it all up using your clean hands(with food grade glove ) until it changes consistency. they shape into patties with the help from burger maker(it saves tons of time when you making dozens of patties), cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes (or you may frozen all of them and cook when you need..it can last for few months).

now get to the steps of put bear burgers together. cut few circles from cheese, sausage and nori, use salad sauce stick them to the bread. I also used toothpick to help with the ears...

IMG_0623_副本.jpg

bake the patties in 325F degrees oven for 15 minutes(from frozen).. spread the lightly toasted burger buns with dijon mustard . top with fresh lettuce, tomato, patties and tomato sauce...

It looks cute? Need another picture of it? haha

now lets get to the meat cheese balls with my garlic bread

ingredients

300g premium beef mince
1 chopped onion and some garlic
1 piece homemade wholemeal bread
1 cup mixed eden cheese and mozzarella cheese
11/2 tbs fish sauce
2tbs lemon juice
Some bread crumbs
Fresh pizza thyme and basil from garden
Some garlic salt, sugar, white pepper and black pepper
2tbs corn flour (optional if you want firm texture)
45ml olive oil

method

use blender to mix everything together for a very shot period.. and sharp it to meat balls, bake it at 425F degrees for 15 minutes

P6250024_副本.jpg

for the garlic bread you will need a home made french bread.

mix 3 table spoon butter with some freshly mince garlic and 1tsb garlic salt, and spread it over the french bread... oven for 3 minutes at 375F degree would be perfectly golden! wrap it with Aluminium Foil Paper to keep it warm...

I LOVE that your kids enjoyed this picnic @emilymichelle! Your photos are magazine quality and your use of fresh food and mention of kids picking tangerines from your garden to add to the picnic, warms my heart. Good job! I am happy to follow you. ;)

Thank you @ rebeccaryan for your kind comments and hard work as guest judge. My girl were so happy about the topic you choose and gave me so many ideas of what they wanted for picnic.. it would be my pleasure to follow you to see more amazing food posts:). Hope you have a nice day! Happy steeming !

Congratulations on your first place win today @emilymichelle! I thought you did a fantastic job!
If I may be so bold, as to ask, what country are you from?
The garden you took pictures in, looked really interesting.

Thank you so much @rebeccaryan for your kind comments:). I am living in New Zealand where many people have own backyard garden...it s winter here now, so I haven't got many chances to update my vegetable garden. I love SCC that made me has to cook something specific, haha, otherwise we always eat similar things week after weeks. This first prize made me so overwhelmed ....many thanks:)

You earned every cent of it @emilymichelle! Keep going because you have what it takes to make it on Steemit. I would say that you are not alone. I fall into this same rut of making similar dishes, and I too have been thankful to be pushed to challenge myself culinarily as a direct result of the SCC. :)

Haha, thanks @rebeccaryan for your warm words...I am so glad to meet awesome people like you in SCC.

great work!

Good luck :D

Thank you for your kind comments@tioluis, have a nice day!

oh I will. I'm creating my entry for the challenge too :D hahaha it will take a little bit but I can put it together. I'm not that skilled with pictures as I'm with the knife lol

Good luck on that! Look forward to your entry! Haha...I also just start to participate in SCC for few weeks, all the food lovers are really friendly and encouraging !

sweet, yeah I like that.
Just how many creations can we see

These burgers are beyond cute @emilymichelle! What an awesome picnic food you have created, beautiful as always!

thanks @kotturinn, what a great chance for kids to have picnic in winter...haha... we loved it...and going to tidy up the garden this weekend after seeing photos.

Speaking of gardens, I gotta water mine! It's a tiny one, but still requires a lot of work!

haha...I got tons of weeds need to be removed from the garden...

I LOVE your picnic post @emilymichelle!!! Everything looks so colourful and unbelievably cute (... including your girls of course!) Wow, you've put so much effort into making all kinds of wonderful picnic items. The bear burgers are so fun and surely even a very fussy child would want to eat these! The cake pops are a lovely treat and look fantastic. And I even love your 'salad cups'... what a great idea to make salad more exciting for children, I am definitely going to do this with my son, thanks for the idea! It looks like you had a lovely picnic, everything laid out and presented so beautifully. I am impressed @emilymichelle, and wish I could have joined you all haha! Good luck

Oh yes , Girls ate much more than usual, they love the idea of picnic in the winter garden....we normally only do it in summer days. They said it would be nicer if more people joined us :) maybe we will do it again on the weekend with her school friends. I guess your son would be excited about the picnic too!

Unfortunately even though it's summer here it has been raining every day for the last month or more! It's quite a stormy place we live here on the north-west coast of Ireland... exposed to the power of the ocean! But we picnic when we can!

I'm so glad you and your girls had a good time, and that they want to do it again with some friends. That will be lovely :-)

hmm...at least it a season with lots nice fresh fruits! Hope you will have some nice picnics and BBQ time this summer.

amazing entry ! good luck to the SCC :)

Thanks @rouketas, I just checked out your yummy burgers :), good luck to you too !

Congratulations @emilymichelle... I'm delighted to tell you that you have won BOTH 1st prize and also @englishtchrivy has chosen yours for the Most Creative Entry prize! Well done, you truly deserve it for such an outstanding entry!!!

We are having a Newbie Special next week, I hope you can join in!

Thank you so much......I am so happy and overwhelm about the prizes...am I still day dreaming? Hahahah....I will definitely join the forthcoming SCC, it s fun to cook for different guest judges, it s like we having a new friend come to visit and we try to cook her favorite foods.... ps. I made the seeds cookie recipe you shared last week(left out tomato and used some cranberries) it s yummy! Thinking maybe can use that for my diet morningtea in the future:) thanks :)

I'm so pleased you won 2 prizes! After all the effort and love you put into your food, you totally deserve rewards!

And I'm very happy and flattered too that you used my recipe! Cranberries sound wonderful :-) Depending on what is put in they can be sweet or savoury. For sure you could eat them on a morning... it's really not much different than eating a handful of seeds! Have a lovely weekend Emily! :-)

Thanks @ woman-onthe-wing, after seeing your wonderful healthy recipes, I felt so bad to make desserts for my girls in tranditional way...hmmm. still need more time to practice on new recipes and then can eat healthy things most of time:) have a great weekend, my Oreo strawberry cheese cake is nearly done in fridge...going to put it as my first entry for this week s SCC, and I am also helping my girls to make their one,the healthier choice:)

Ha ha, well @emilymichelle, a treat every now and then is OK!!! Your girls look healthy, I'm sure you usually take very good care of their diets! But if you wanted to make your cheesecake healthier, you could use a base like I did in my cheesecake. I made it with nuts, seeds, dates, cinnamon and coconut oil, and in my honest opinion I think it tasted just as nice as a biscuit base. But you could do some experimentation and see what works for your tastes!

Wow...I love dates and nuts...I will try that base for something ...haha...another to do list...
