Skyline blues - POEM (Steemitbloggers Contest)
As a response to the most awesome contest yet organized by @steemitbloggers and created by @thekittygirl, this post was a lot of fun to write. You can check the contest post here: Treasure Hunt and see for yourself that it was not an easy task, not easy at all. First I had to solve a puzzle, then unscramble the letters to get a name, go to the blog of that person, find a specific post there, read the posts and finally write a post containing either poem, photo, drawing or a story about something from that post. SKYLINE BLUES
with a drink in my hand,
feeling proud of the work
we accomplished as planned.
from my office chair,
my eyes locked
on the skyline in despair.
my tired head,
how many people
dream of their warm bed?
out of concrete and glass,
to human dedication
for being upper class...
I decided to go with a poem that serves as a sort of critique of humans who lose their focus and spend their lives being too busy to even notice their children, loved ones or friends. Some people work too hard and sacrifice too much with never being satisfied with what they have got or being happy and grateful for the time they have. There is nothing wrong with being ambitious, just don't lose yourself along the way.
People who love you, need you more than they need your money. Do not forget to hug, smile, and say you love them and are grateful for having them in your life. You can be successful and happy at the same time, you just need to be a bit more careful. Your children will not remember the iPhone you bought them for their birthday but they will remember that day you spent together on the beach. People and things are not the same. Things should be used and people should be loved. Do not make a mistake of doing it the other way around. Sooner or later, you will regret it and by that time, it will be too late. Work smart, not hard and cherish the humans you are surrounded with.

Your blogs just keep on getting better and better @zen-art, love your poem! It's so important to learn this lesson early and rather spend more time with your loved ones than just buying gifts. Veering off the subject but still related, I love giving an experience as a gift, like show/ movie/ tickets or a restaurant voucher, makes good memories rather than a physical gift.

STOP@zen-art very moving and it is so true. If we spent more time with our families than trying to provide more things for them we would be much happier. Just from the posts I read on here, the happiest ones are those that have a healthy family life. The ones that truly were raised that taking care of yourself and putting your family in the forefront have a huge head start on those of us who rarely get to see family or had parents that worked all the time.
Happiness is often in people, not in things, especially when it comes to family. Thank you for such a nice comment 💚
