Walking through Fire, Roses and Golden Light
Amazing what a little trip down memory lane will bring to the surface. I have walked through so many fncking fires in my life that it actually astonishes me that I am still somewhat shaken by the ones that I am faced with in my current life. You would THINK that by now I would have found enough faith in myself to actually shake all the shit off – so why is it then, that I – and so many like me… allow ourselves to be trampled on – and even worse, by those that actually SEE our emanating light and wish they had it for themselves! Something VERY wrong with THAT equation I say… and as much as I can sit here and admit that I am weak in moments, I am also becoming confident enough to say that I “recognise it” and understand that it no longer deserves a place of power in the temple of my soul. I may be damaged, cracked and wounded – but I am not broken and my lessons in life have become my closest friend and greatest strength. They have taught me to have appreciation for my own personal value and to have unending acceptance for that of others, and this lesson is invaluable.

The funny thing about having that light inside you....you'll never be in the dark. Another way of saying is: darkness cannot exist in the presence of light.
Let your light shine, let your tears sparkle like bright diamonds washing the darkness off of your heart and soul. The clouds come, they go, a new day is born and the sun burns across the sky, be grateful of this too.

I totally understand what you are saying. In my experience I have discovered you only know who your true friends are when you go through adversity, the others are too busy talking about you. I would go on to say, when we have a giving spirit, many people will use us for what we have to offer, once our well has run dry, they will move on to a new well.
It takes time to learn to be strong for oneself and to stand up for ourself. Good for you for recognizing that in yourself.

Good. Lessons are excellent friends, indeed, if you let them talk you into things. Being wise and being happy seem to have a lot in common.
They are the best of friends really... even when you don't realise it yet!
You know, I ask myself the exact same question - I've overcome a lot of difficult and intense challenges (like a lot of us have), yet I still let others try and take that light of awe away. What a d*ckhead haha!
The last few months I have started to stand up for myself a little more and learned to say "no" to things - there's still remnants of a past Nick which I'm working on scratching off, their residue sticking on to my soul like a limpet does to a rock. Be gone!
Keep fighting, listen to the "authentic self" and drive on :)
It is a very liberating place to be when you arrive at that point. :)
