Getting Shite Done – Why I Don’t Feel Any Better
For a while now I have been looking at the contest by @themarkymark - Get Shit Done Contest, with the consideration of entering. Whaleshares for the prize, sure why wouldn’t I enter?
But I am always getting shite done. I am so busy every day. I work, which I do around my kids. That means I work in the morning, do family stuff, homework activates for the afternoon and evening and then I get back to work each night. I have to be productive with the time I have so shite just won’t get done.
Today I did something I have been putting off all year. Something that I dread. Something most people dread. My Tax Return.
For those of you than know me, you will know that I am a qualified CPA. Sure doing a tax return is second nature. Lol, go to hell, tax returns are nothing but a pain in the face. In fact there are one of the reasons I won’t practice as an accountant.
When you practice as an accountant, people give you their paperwork or details and you prepare a tax return for them. But it does not stop there. As an accountant you have to listen to the client moan and give out about the tax they have to pay. It’s as if we personally have put this charge on them.
And then, because they have tax to pay, they don’t want to pay the accountant. Sure the accountant only gives them bad news. Who the fuck wants to pay for bad news.
So I had my own tax return to do today, but it’s not as simple as just doing mine. I am married and we submit a joint return. That means I have to listen to my husband give out to me. WHF. It’s not my fault. Why do we have to go through this every year?
But it’s done now and I don’t feel any better. Why? well because in a few week a couple of grand will be gone from my bank account and then next year I will have to do it all again.

Oh boy TAXES. Even when you win the contest and get it done, you still lose a whole lot of money paying the bill!
Now imagine that 2 countries claim the right to tax 100% of your worldwide income. Its enough to make you stop earning any more money ;p

My life is so full of things trying to get everything done there isn't enough hours in the day. I saw this contest and thought - well I am always getting shit done. But not the tax return....
lol mine is done, but the headache from listening to my hubby moan about the bill is still here

Haha, just took a break from doing my VAT return to read a few posts on steemit.
I get this one four times a year. I set it as a mental challenge of how efficiently I can do it each time. Each time I should get better...

I hear you Paula... I have most of a degree in accounting and have done all my own taxes since day one... endless hours of paperwork tracking three separate businesses of self-employment for myself, and similar hours of paperwork tracking my wife's life coaching practice and her unrelated eBay business, and then our art gallery have together. Yeah, that's a lot of fun... and at the end of it all we're generally below the Federal exemption anyway, but it still has to be done because of self-employment SS tax. Grrrr....
