STEEM Is Still Doing Great!

in #steemit6 years ago

STEEM is still holding strong in the top three of most actively used blockchains and that's good enough reason for me to not lose confidence in Steemit's future and keep accumulating Steem Power. Even if a lot of that activity is from bots and fake accounts.

But there are more reasons to not power down or panic-sell your SBD or STEEM. I know crypto-currencies are in a prolonged slump; BTC doesn't seem to want to stick above $8000.00 and STEEM, like most alt-coins is feeling this pain in an exaggerated manner. Still I'm very positive about STEEM's future, even more so after the discussion we just had in the @helpie Discord channel.

First let's take a look at that top three of the most actively used blockchains:

Numbers one, two and three are all brain-child of Dan Larimer, the creator of STEEM. And although EOS has recently taken over the number one spot, it's save to say that EOS is still very much in a startup- or speculation-phase, where STEEM and BitShares are resounding current successes; blockchains that are actually being used for existing Dapps, like Steemit, DSound, DLive and DTube, and by real users. During the meeting on the @helpie Discord channel, @meno pointed out the little exclamation mark at the end of the ETH-row in the table: this means the network is bogging down and is working at maximum capacity, when all of @dan's coins run at less than 1% of their total capacity; there's no scaling issues in sight for either of those blockchains, which is a testament to the underlying technology, and assures us end-users of the potential for a lot of growth.

Also there's the prospect of SMT's on the STEEM blockchain. SMT's are Smart Media Tokens and if you want a detailed description of what those are, please visit smt.steem.io, where you can also read the whitepaper. The main message I get out of this is that STEEM will act as the blockchain on top of which independent crypto-currencies can be launched. They will enable anyone to create their own token for use in their own Dapp or website.

SMTs are an evolution of the successful relationship established between STEEM and the social websites sitting atop of it, such as steemit.com, which has grown to be a top 2100 website in Alexa rankings in less than one year, solely from integrating the incentive model of STEEM. With SMTs, any website or content library across the internet may have one or more tokens integrated into its interface to facilitate fundraising and autonomous growth.

You know what this means, right? If this all goes without too many technical or market-hype related problems, and I don't see any immediate reason why it wouldn't, then STEEM will be like Ethereum or EOS; ETH only shot up in value when people started using it as a platform for launching ICO's. EOS's value is determined mainly by it's function as a platform on top of which other coins are being airdropped. So don't power down just yet. Don't let the current downturn in the markets get to you and hold on to your STEEM and SP if there's no immediate financial emergency.

This is how I feel, it's just an opinion from your average crypto-brother and by no means financial advice. But I just can't help but thinking I'd be kicking myself if I had to sell what little STEEM and SP I have now, just to see it skyrocket in a few months from now. Also projects like Steem Monsters and the table I showed at the start of this post make me believe the STEEM blockchain has the scalability to support massive usage by a lot more users than there are active now: only 0.10% of the total capacity is being used now.

So I sincerely hope you'll all be staying right here, with STEEM. And with me to of course :-) Because tomorrow I'll be right back here, on this very spot, and hope to see you all back here to. In the meantime, keep cool, don't panic or FUD, and keep steeming ;-)

Oh, wait. Our discussions at @helpie are being recorded, so if you're interested to hear us, mainly @meno :-), talk about how we see the future developing here on Steemit, please go here: Friday Talk - Helpienauts. Also check this article by @therealwolf: The Power of Positivity - Thinking Long-Term. And this one from @silentscreamer: Positivity vs Negativity on the Steem blockchain. I think these show how we're all very positive on STEEM's and Steemit's future: I hope some of it will rub off on you :-)

Just for Full Disclosure, I'm invested in these crypto-currencies:

Bitcoin | Litecoin | EOS | OmiseGo | FunFair | KIN | Pillar | DENT | Polymath | XDCE | 0x | Decred | Ethereum | Carmel | XYO

Sort:

As long Ned doesnt come out and say: "next year guys... Sry..." We should be good. Theres a lot hanging on SMTs. Either it will be a huge hit or do nothing at all.
Time will tell. But yeah wer solid for now.

Yes, time will tell indeed :-) But if SMT's live up to their potential we'll have a great time and be even more grateful for STEEM's existence. Truth be told though: I have fun here either way, most I meet here do :-)

I missed tgis exiting post! I appologize tgat i cant resteem it 😴 steem is like you say bound to be a top blockchain,Dan is a legend, and good things come in 3's.. Eos,bitsgares,and...Steem! Just seeing tge sucess of eos is a good signal.. ☺

Steem is like finding gold in the wild, soon you will see the price rise.

I should have mentioned you to, @chesatochi; you're one of the most positive crypto-brothers on Steemit! I hope you can forgive me for my terrible oversight... I thank you for always showing us the bright side of crypto :-)

Great analysis. I agree. STEEM is solid.

Thanks, @wstanley226, I'm glad you liked it. STEEM is solid! ;-)
