Are You A Developer Looking For Work? Create An App/Website For SteemitsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemit8 years ago

I really want to learn how to code. To be able to make apps and games. It is a skill that is going to continue to be in demand for years and years to come. Robots may be taking our jobs but you coders are the ones telling them what to do. And this site is one, of many, who can use you talented developers to make apps. Are you a student who has his laptop with them 24/7? A recent graduate with the summer off? Maybe you work a job you don't like and are trying to find other sources of income on your time off? Or maybe you like your job and are still looking for other ways to use your skills to make money? Check out steemit.com, it is a site that is happy for you to create whatever app you want and one of the only sites where you can see money for your progress.

Steemit is a social media/blogging site where users share a spilt of the weekly cryptocurrrency reward pool. It is given out, for free, because as with any cryptocurrency, the more people who use it, the higher the chance the value of the coin goes up. This site is still newer and what it really needs are apps that run on their blockchain. There are people who are working on an app so you can upload video and they have already created different interfaces for users so they can be presented the content in different ways. But if you have any ideas for an app that would work for a social media site or could utilize a cryptocurrency such as steem, you are in high demand here. Maybe you can make a game that uses the currency as in-game currency that people can make by selling their items? Maybe you can create an app for contests where people can easily run them and users can win rewards? Or maybe something that helps people with work/weight-lose/community/scheduling? Any idea you have for an app, this might be its home.

For details I think the site recognizes Python and Java. And the code of steemit is MIT Open Source. As you can tell I lack the technical expertise but there are users on here who I'm sure will be willing to help (if you need it, you coders are like wizards). Maybe some users can add more information about programming languages and other technical details that would help in the comments.

Sure you could create apps for Facebook or the Google store but that is highly competitive. How many apps get released on the Google store in a week? There is a good chance your work will get seen here and you can even link your progress in the comments below. Which brings me to the biggest benefit to you for making an app here. You can get paid, well, just for your updates. Here are some examples:

An update on the beta of busy.org is sitting at over $1,300 in value:

And here is an update on where is at steemQ that is sitting at over $560:

That is just for the post itself. Yeah they have been here longer and have the support of users but I am telling you, if you work on an app that will bring value to this site, there is a high chance you will get noticed. You can do a few updates a week, make sure they are blog length, add photos and you can make good money as you work to create your app, an app that you have the freedom to choose what it is and how it works. It is a great place for a side project and I really think you should check it out.

whatageek, as you know by now I'm a reader of your post here. I am a coder/IT subject matter expert(by title only, NO one is an expert... just a CompTIA cert) anyway I do however lack the creativity to code or script anything hence the reason I only make personal smartphone apps of items I need, so how would I go about getting people to throw me items to code for this place? I have my own hosting capabilities for up to 22 terabytes as well so if you could give me a few suggestions I'd be more than happy to lend a hand to my new found home here. Thanks.

Awesome, I'm going to do a post for you and give you an in-depth response tonight. Maybe we can get a project going, or we can connect you with people who can.

I am going to make a post to see if there is anyone you can team up with who wants to start a project. I will give you the liquid rewards from it.

Would you be able to make a game that can integrate steem as its currency or an app where you can schedule your posts for up to a week at a time? I work creative and have ideas but don't know how to code. If creative is what you need we can work together, but if you need more expertise I will see if I can connect you to people.

Lets make it happen, and yes to both of those ^
The game could be RP: Role play based, or standard turn based... I actually even have templates for items similar to the game one via smart phone, project I started a few months a go but got bored as I had the lack of contacts to ask creative points on. [email protected]<-p- email lets make it happen.

Hey @carterx7 my email is [email protected] but I don't check it much, so please comment. I just need to make that post for you. Also my internet will be slow for the rest of this week.

What would it take to make an auto post service?

For the game maybe we can start to make one. Do we need a graphic designer? We can get a team on here and try to fund it. It would need to be card or item based so people could buy, trade and sell the cards/items for steem. I am thinking a deck or inventory of about 20 and no cards that are too powerful to break the game. If we can get a one v one turn based game that is multiplayer it could be big. Or if it is easier we can make it single player with harder and harder guys (or an endless mode) and the better items/card can help you get further on the leaderboards. If we are going to do it I think we figure out the easiest type of game to make and then build from there. That way we can get it off the ground.

Great post, i wish i was a programmer. its the way things are going these days.

You and me both. Yeah it is the future, I think creative will always have a future as well but maybe I just tell myself that as a writer. :p

I have been enjoying your posts. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you :)

I'm not much of a programmer nowadays, but I might try app development here as a hobby.

You definitely should, this is the place and time to do it. App posts make a lot of money on here. If you have the free time I recommend it, let me know if I can help.
