2017 : Year of the Blockchain
2017 is already kicking off with a bang. Earmarked to be disruptive, 2017 has been publicly hailed as “The Year of Blockchain”. On January 1st Bitcoin surged past the $1,000 USD mark (on strong trading volume). It’s an exciting time to see cryptocurrency breaking into new and unprecedented territory. As headlines build and BTC investors take profits at the top, promising cryptos like Steem are sure to see a fresh wave of investing.
Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017!
2016 has come to a close and Steemit has locked in its first generation of users. A new calendar year is here, and there is a lot of exciting growth to look forward to!
With the price of Steem being low over the last few months we’ve had opportunity to grow a bit under the radar, pose big questions, foster critical dialogue and build community with an eye on the long-term. I’m looking forward to learning more about the Steemit Roadmap that’s been buzzing around the last few weeks. It will be very exciting to see how the founders and insiders of this platform imagine it to grow!
Mission for 2017 : Explore - Share - Build
As for me? 2017 is set to be a big one. Me and my collective @hitheryon will seek new territory in collaborative art and design. I’m excited to really dig into the rules and metrics of blockchain and learn how this technology could be applied directly in multiple disciplines including art, architecture and urban design.
The Holiday Effect
Me, @hitheryon and @hansikhouse have been working hard over the last few weeks to pull in new creative talent to Steemit. The holiday season has been a unique opportunity to talk blockchain and Steemit with a broad umbrella of colleagues, friends and family. It’s been a whirlwind of analogy-making and practicing carefully crafted sentences. (Some elevator pitches were definitely more successful than others!) Rough and tumble conversations are healthy and good! With a little trial and error this holiday season we’ve learned what resonates and what fails. I’m very excited to see a new wave of users join in on the community this week.
Thank you all for an eye-opening 2016! Let’s all work to make 2017 a year to remember. So much more to come… Onward and upwards!
