30 Day Writing Challenge #6: What Is Your Main Reason For Staying On Steemit?

Day 6 of the #challenge30days is on... well, it's been on since yesterday, but I'm again a day late. If you want to participate, check out the initial post by @dragosroua.

Today's question is:

What Is Your Main Reason For Staying On Steemit?

Well, the answer is quite simple and was hinted at the the "best thing to happen to you on Steemit".

Steemit has allowed me to monetize my content in a way that no other platform has permitted up until now. It's gotten to the point where I can actually focus on making better content, rather than trying to figure out how I can make content not awful while doing another job. Even when Steem price took a mad nosedive a month or two ago, it was still generating more than what I've managed to from other platforms. There's no contest here. Youtube may be a good video distribution platform, but it's not viable financially unless you're in the the multi-million number of views per week. On Steemit we can do a lot more with a lot less, because there's no corporation taking half the revenue, or MCN taking 10% of what's left. Also, with the rise of DTube and Dlive, we may be in the situation of not really needing Youtube. Especially since on these distribution methods we don't have the dreaded copyright bots. To be clear, I'm not advocating for copyright infringement, piracy, stealing content or anything like that. But on Youtube I've been clobbered repeatedly with absolute abuse from the copyright system. Fals claims were a plenty, companies that gave us material to reuse were sending copyright strikes for that material, even if the appeal succeed, a few months later the strike would be back. Looking at you Activision. And, especially, Nintendo. Whoever helps it enforce its backwards system is complicit. You can't claim all the revenue of a 10 minute show because it has 10 seconds of a Zelda trailer at the end. That's why every time I need to illustrate a Nintendo game, I replace it with something like this:

I've made dozens of them over the years. But here, I'm free. So that, and the financial security, is why I'm staying on Steemit.

You're not asking me but for me has been the family support during the economic and political crisis of my country, so I am very grateful. Taking that aside I've known many friends and let my ideas fly and the best I get paid for it is actually the best network. Thank you for sharing your post.
