Tub Cat's Advice for Newbies

I am Tub Cat! Bringer of Quality Content!

Hello Squishy Humans,

It is I, Tub Cat, and I am here to bring you some advice as to how you, too, can create amazing content on Steemit.

If you perform a simple search on Steemit you will find many articles encouraging you to produce real, and meaningful content for this platform. The articles are common, and many offer instructions for developing well formatted articles, how to promote your articles and simple strategies for increasing your following so that you can quickly generate an income stream from the amazing platform that is Steemit.

A simple search using the phrase how to create great content produces the results in the image below. So it's clear that there is an abundance of information out there on this topic. So why has Tub Cat produced this article you ask?

Well the answer is very simple. Tub Cat comments on many articles suggesting that those who produce below average content lift their Steemit game and produce something that is green squishy button worthy. Before this article was created, if these humans navigated to Tub Cat's page, they'd only see an article telling them why I visited and commented on their page. So Tub Cat decided to create a short guide that informs silly humans how they, too, can create fantastic content on Steemit.

The second reason for Tub Cat producing this article is that, well, sadly most of the articles in the image above that tell humans how to create good content are... er... crappy articles.

There's some useful information in these articles of course. But it's all pretty generic advice or advice about how to create click bait articles. And Tub Cat hates click bait.

So here are Tub Cat's points for producing good quality and original content

Your content must be original

Don't expect up votes for content that is clearly not your own. Never re-post videos from your favourite youtube star, in a vain attempt to get up votes. This is just silly human behaviour. Also don't find a website that has a write up on something that you find interesting and copy this across to your page. This is called plagiarism and Tub Cat will surely flag you for this, along with a host of other users and bots.

If you want to talk about something your favourite youtube star spoke about then write up an opinion piece on this article. If you find an article on another website that speaks about something cool and exciting, then write about why you love this thing so much and link to it in your post.

source

The preference is of course, that you create something new and interesting. Tub Cat finds it very hard to believe when humans claim they don't have anything to contribute to Steemit. That's like saying that you don't have an opinion on something. And we all know that opinions are like butt holes, we all have them, even cats. Steemit gives you an opportunity to express your opinions, so take advantage of this opportunity. What squishy human doesn't love expressing their opinion?

Are you still claiming that you don't have anything to write about? Then too bad. Maybe Steemit isn't for you. We can't all be successful here. Unlike Tub Cat who has an endless stream of opinions and thoughts to share.

And finally, when sharing your opinion or deep thoughts on Steemit. Don't do this by posting an image with one sentence below it. Steemit isn't Facebook or Instagram. In fact, many people who use Steemit despise these awful social media platforms. So when we see a stoopid human treating Steemit like those platforms, we'll skim right past your posts without a second thought. You'll also surely receive a visit from Tub Cat who will express his extreme dislike of your awful InstaCrap like post.

Take the time to make your post look amazing

It's great to want to express your thoughts and opinions on Steemit however if your post looks like you just dragged it out from under your 32 year old fridge, then don't expect anyone to give your post their valuable time.

Have a think about what Tub Cat's post would look like if Tub Cat didn't take the time to break his sentences up using paragraphs, images, headings and sub-headings and page breaks. The post would look awful, it would barely be readable and you'd likely skim over it and ignore the message that Tub Cat is trying to communicate. And then Tub Cat would probably stop by his own post to tell him how bad it looks.

The key point is, even if what you're writing is pure genius. If it looks rubbish, no one (and by no one I mean Tub Cat) will read it. So learn how to make your posts look great. There are lots of posts on Steemit already about formatting. So read these, learn from them, and make your posts look amazing.

To get you started have a look at this post and this post. Both have some great advice as to how to format your posts to look incredible.

Make your audience laugh, cry and think

Do your best to avoid posting material that is designed to give people a "quick fix". Tub Cat describes "quick fix posts" as material that is only designed for a few seconds of amusement. This material is a symptom of FacePalm and InstaCrap. It provides the reader with a brief spurt of entertainment and is then quickly forgotten. Sometimes this material can be OK however it should never make up the bulk of the material that you post.

source

The best material on Steemit is the material that teaches your reader something new, inspires the reader to take action on something or change their perspective on a point of view. This material not only has a much longer life on Steemit, but provides the author with the greatest opportunity to generate a larger amount of Steem.

This type of material takes time to create. Expect to put in at least a couple of hours to create your post. For example, Tub Cat wrote this post over a 2 hour period. Many humans would write a post like this a lot faster, and format it even better than Tub Cat has. But Tub Cat is a Cat, and writing posts in a Tub. Give Tub Cat some credit here.

Tub Cat's Closing Remarks

Tub Cat could talk all day on this topic however this is enough to get you silly humans started with your high quality content creation.

Simply remember that a good quality post takes time to create. Firstly, you need a good topic, you then need to create your post and make it look pretty. And finally, you need to write your post in a way that inspires and/ or entertains your reader.

Creating quality content takes practice. You should expect to fail when you first start creating your posts, so if Tub Cat stops by to offer his sage advice, take that advice on board and learn from it.

But be assured that, in time, your writing/ video creating or whatever type of content you produce, will improve if you put in the effort required.

Persevere, pink and squishy human. Your Steemit life is just beginning!

@zenmum Some sagely advice from a cat in a tub. ;)

Solid article, swing buy and check me out.. I'm all about posting good content and was referred to network with you and see if perhaps we could collaborate...

Tub Cat knows of your work and is definitely keen to collaborate.

Tub Cat is still a kitten but is growing quickly and expects to have some decent influence very soon.

How would you like to collaborate?

Well the dog enjoys attacking shit content, and the cat enjoys teaching others how to create good content.. I'm unsure, perhaps an article on how to not create shit content, or how to be a good and productive member of the community, that bots are unnecessary etc. I'm open for ideas..

Thank you for your sagely advice, o wise and illustrious cat o’ the tub. This has been helpful.

PS I love the Facepalm graphic..... made my day 😁

Why thank you, pink and squishy human. I am pleased that you have learned from my valuable content!
