Welcoming new Steemians and why we should be all doing it!

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Steemit is such an amazing platform that has created a huge global community. Bringing together so many different people from all over the world, from all different walks of life. It is a true representative of the great diversity we have on this great planet. I continue to learn so much from everyone's blogs and to be truly inspired.

It is so important to continue to promote Steemit, to continue to bring people to this Platform. We have this amazing opportunity to connect and learn from one another, to share our experiences and our skills and help one another to become stronger and more productive, here on Steemit and in our lives.

Coming on to steemit we are all such little fish in this huge ocean, I still am a little fish to be honest. This is why I am doing this post and will continue to do so weekly. I have been actively seeking out new members that I feel will add to the great diversity already on here. I look on the #introduceyourself regularly and resteem new members. I know other steemians have been doing the same and I fully support what they do. At this stage I think that a resteem is sometimes more beneficial than an upvote unless you have big voting power. I do upvote but at the moment it is only worth 3 cent.

So here are the people I have resteemed this week, please check them out and give them your support. But even better, get out there and help some other newbies feel welcome.

@thebboywannabedj

Hello everyone, my name is Hugo aka TheBboyWannaBeDj and I'm a newbie.
I am a Bboy (break boy), in other words, I break dance. Through dance I've learned to listen, feel, surrender to sound and travel in it. Combining these elements music became an addiction, so I started to collect records, produce my own music and then I became a DJ.

Through my record collection, I'll be sharing with you the rhythms that moves me, hoping to discover more and more sounds.

Thank you for having me!

@herbalfaerie

Hello Steem Community

My name is Charlie, I am a 20-year-old student from London, UK. I am currently studying Herbal Medicine and Naturopathy at The College of Naturopathic Medicine. I have been studying for two and a half years and I'm very driven to share the benefits of herbal medicine and living a healthy lifestyle with you. This is one of the main reasons I was drawn to steem, as it's a wonderful platform where I can share pieces detailing the information I am learning.
I'd love to create a community of people who are passionate about the healing power that mother nature has to offer. I hope to provide educational posts on the topic of herbalism, like a modern-day version of the great botanist and astrologer Nicholas Culpepper, who believed that herbal medicine is a skill to be shared with everyone. Become your own doctor and take your health into your own hands!

@celestialcow

Hi Steemit i'm Celestial Cow, fully plant powered, food anarchist and diet revolutionist. EXCITED TO BE HERE....! 🕉️ 🌱 ☮️
I am 30 years old, my attitude was always to live everyday as your last, I have been quite a restless person most of my life never committing to a career, spending all my money traveling the world solo.

Experiencing all kinds of cultures, learning from people and seeing different perspectives on life has taught me so much, but the shocking reality is we live in a world in crisis. How can people still be starving, malnourished, no access to running water or a proper toilet? How can this still be happening when there is enough in the world to feed everyone?!

@vvanamaria

With my courage and my inner strength clenched between my teeth, I set off to Spain with a 60L backpack in search for a different path, one that would change my life forever. Over a year a go I was in Montreal, Canada, scrolling online courses of permaculture around the world when I suddenly stumbled upon one given in Orgiva, Spain. After having lived 20 years in Canada, I was ready to leave and move to a new country. By some magical, almost improbable occurrence, the town of Orgiva drew me closer.

@daughterwolf

So who is Daughter Wolf?

It has taken me a few days to write my first post, continually answering the question: "Who is Daughter Wolf?" and continually deleting what I had written. Staring at the blank screen, not knowing quite what to say. Perhaps the answer is then- I don't know. I don't quite know who I am, or what I am good at. But I DO know what I love. I love my husband and daughters, I love being a homemaker, I love moving my body and my mind. I love feeling nature, making music, and laughing with friends.

So lets continue to show our support to Steemit and to one another and help this great platform grow and turn into something that has the potential to bring about change.

Be active and be part of the change you want to see.

I am part of the #ecotrain, if you wish to read great content and be inspired please check it out. It is one train that is full of very diverse and creative passengers. And we all know that diversity is the spice of life.

thank you for letting me know, I didn't realize.

Extraordinary, you are ;) x

thank you @article61 you are too nice to me x

This is lovely. I am happy to be encountering so many kindred kind folks here...this gal is feeling at home. I will be continuing to include support of new folks in my activities. I wish them to feel as welcomed as I have. Thanks all.

Thanks @borrowedearth, I certainly feel very happy to be on here. Thats's why I wanted to get involved in welcoming others.

This is a great post and really excellent service you are doing for the Steemit community. This is exactly EXACTLY what it's all about. excellent work

thank you @stillgideon for your great words of encouragement, much appreciated.

I agree @trucklife-family! We should all try to welcome the new members and engage in new conversations to keep growing the platform.

Definitely @danielgt that's what it's all about. Thanks for dropping by.

Glad I watched a Jerry Banfield video and found this wonderful platform. Im learning but wanted to say Welcome Aboard!!

Nice initiative!
Reminds me of an ecotrain QotW four months ago:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@likedeeler/what-is-the-best-message-you-can-write-to-someone-new-on-steemit-who-has-just-posted-on-the-introduceyourself-tag-ecotrain
We wanted to write a follow up summary of our articles to use as a comment on "introduceyourself" posts, to greet new steemians, but somehow nothing or not much became of it for whatever reason.
Maybe because I was not the conductor yet. 😉

Thank you @likedeele, probably why it didin't happen, you are definitely right on it as conductor x

Thanks, but now I also understand how much work @eco-alex is putting in and sometimes life´s analog necessities get in the way of digital perfection, so we just have to let go of digital perfection occasionally.
But the train has choo-chooed a long way already, the quality of our passengers, as demonstrated in the Highlights, is mind-blowing, and that, in my not so humble opinion, is the most important part of the train, quality content.
Some might say, most important is meaningful interaction among the passengers and with the broader steemit community, but I think meaningful content has to be at the base of that anyway.
Otherwise it would be quite shallow, and we wouldn´t make good use of the written word, but just engage in idle chit-chat.

It's finding a good balance, but the content is def important I agree, it really helps when we're all creating great posts, it inspires us all to be more creative. Which inturn leads to us connecting more, All goes full circle really x

Hola Vecina!!! probably see more of you on here! love xx

Hello beautiful, so glad to see you come on board xx

I love that you do this and are so committed to it! I need more hours in the day.

I'm feeling a bit stretched at the moment for sure. But just wanted to contribute a little moreto this great community xx

You do a lot for this community with your big, beautiful heart! Don't forget to take care of yourself. What do you know about womenspeakout and girlpowa? I'm wanting to link to a group of women supporting women. I was reading a few posts yesterday, and I was blown away by the hateful anti feminist sentiment being spewed at some of the posts. One of the guys had a "feminism is cancer" hashtag. I was horrified.

I was going to link up with you about this, I just joined teamgirlpowa. Didn't see those posts! . I joined for that same reason wanting to support other woman, there is a real diverse group on there which I really like, would be very happy if you came onboard. xx that hashtag is full on x

Cool! Do I have to get on discord to join? I've been avoiding discord because I need another thing to check on my computer like I need a hole in my head, but I really want to get on. I saw another post from a gender queer person who was down voted on her first couple posts for sharing about LGBTQP issues. I felt fire coming from my neck, and it really surprised me. Other than Bernie, all my experiences here have been really good. Anyway! Let me know how to hop on!

if you go on my latest post there is a banner at the bottom click on that x yeah x you do have to go on discord x

I am being forced to the dark side. Ah well, at least I am almost totally weaned from fb. Gotta have messenger, though. Otherwise I don't get to communicate with my oldest. Maybe I can get him on discord. I almost have him on Steemit. He's an incredible writer, poet, musician, anarchist. I know he's gonna love it, but you know they still resist even when they're grown.
