Why I am going to STOP Following Everybody That Follows Me.

We all know that the very first thing you want and need on Steemit is Followers. It seems that many Steemians will do almost anything to get More Followers. First many will try to follow thousands of folks in the hopes that a few hundred will FOLLOW-BACK(Yup I did it too). Then it seems that many more will go on a comment blitz and comment on a boatload of post with a junk comment and then say “I followed you now follow me back.”. Finally we see the 'Follow me I Follow-Back' post trying to start a follow train. Does any of this look familiar to you?

Most of us have been involved in some way with all of these methods. We are all Idiots. Yup I am talking to you....and myself. Why are we Idiots you ask? Think about it. We come to Steemit to find GREAT content. Content that makes want to re-read it and just soak it up with a sponge. It might be news articles, photographs, Art, or any number of different kinds of content that you want to view.

The big problem arises when we follow hundreds, and thousands of Steemians just because they followed us, or got on the Follow-Train with us, is that our feeds get cluttered with JUNK. Sometimes our feed moves so fast that we can't even read the title of a post before new stuff is there.

What do you do then. You can't read them all. You can't even glance at them. You end up skimming though them hoping to find something interesting. By the time you find something that catches your eye, you start to read it and find that it may not be good quality....but now you have spent so much time hunting through your feed that you don't have much time left to find Quality content that deserves an upvote. So you end up upvoting things that really don't deserve it.

Wouldn't it be much better for all of us, and Steemit in general if we could have the time to read more than just a few posts, and then upvote the best ones, rather than reading and upvoting junk? There is a way to do that.

What we need to do is start following ONLY content creators that post things WE are interested in viewing. If we are following somebody that never posts what we like...what good are they? They are a wast of feed space and time to us. If you are following interesting to you content creators then eventually you will find the best ones and upvote THEM. These are the folks that deserve to be upvoted. Seriously folks, if somebody is posting crap, Why follow them, and why upvote them? If I post crap and you upvote me just to be nice, I am going think I am posting good stuff. Whereas if I am not upvoted then hopefully I will learn to post better content.

Anyway, start following folks that post what you like and UNFOLLOW those that post junk. When I say junk, I mean anything that you won't read and enjoy. Remember, following somebody that creates content that you will not read is just a wast of your time.
