Bots and multiple accounts on SteemitsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemit7 years ago

If a person owns n accounts, that person got n times the initial steem-power for free, and using self (in the personal sense, not only in the individual account sense, that person growth his steem-power and/or SBDs n times faster, and this comes at the expense of the rest of the users, since SBDs and Steem are both created by inflation.

It might also means n times the amount of work for that person, had it not been for the use of bots, which exempts from this trouble.

Bots often also lower the level of discussion, waste space on the blockchain and wastes bandwidth and encourages others to implement as well, since otherwise they are at a disadvantage.

There are also some neutral and needed, or at least potentially needed bots which I would not have eliminated, even if I had the ability to do so.

So I am not completely opposed to bots, but if nothing will be done against the partisan bots, the place may gradually deteriorate to a game of life cyber bots version.

Bots also make this environment more inflationary in a way that discriminates against human users.

Volunteer bot for a(nother) bot.
Feels like a new thing to learn about.

ROFL! Irony?

I get what your saying and do agree somewhat but bots can be used by everyone. The same could be said about people who joined early but it wouldnt be fair to reset everyone's account when a new person joins. The same could be said for people who invest their own money as opposed to us grinders.

1st degree murder and robbery can be done by most too, and according to the law it is not fair to take from the murderer and robber all that he managed to rob.

Comparing this and murder/robbery is a bit of a stretch don't you think? In both those cases they are doing something to other people. How is use of a bot to upvote etc taking away from anyone else?

Both deeds are benefiting on others' expense.
I thought I explained in the article how it takes away from other accounts, but I will repeat it in different words for you and anyone whom will ever read this exchange:
The benfits of upvotes, be them either SBD or SP come from a reward pool that at least in SP case comes from inflation of STEEM.
More upvotes is more inflationary to STEEM, and more significantly, it drains the reward pool quicker and puts it in abusers' wallets (abusers are users of multiple accounts) and in the case of bot accounts, they even achieve their goal easier, since their bots do most of their dirty time consuming work including logging in and logging out repeatedly, and voting and timing of voting and other time wasting stuff.
