Sometimes, the problem with using generic or popular hashtags is that your posts might be lost in the noise of hundreds of posts using the same hashtags. Hence, it is a good idea to create your own dedicated brand-specific hashtags

Coca Cola was able to successfully turn this into a hashtag campaign by encouraging drinkers to Tweet their own stories with the hashtag # ShareACoke. This campaign hasn’t just garnered hundreds of thousands of Tweets, but it has also given Coke the opportunity to create new sub-campaigns

Trending Hashtags

Another great way to boost your Steemit Post’s visibility is using existing hashtags that have grown popular among millions of users, also known as ‘Trending’ hashtags'. Before you hashtag trending topics, remember to first ask yourself whether your social media posts are adding value to the existing conversation

This went viral beginning of 2017, # saltbae was born! I have no idea why, but this is Trending. If you're a Chef & decide to sprinkle some Salt you're definitely entitled to use this Hashtags only if you're going to add value to this existing social movement

Trending Hashtag may become Popular Hashtags like # icebucketchallenge also known as the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is an activity involving the dumping of a bucket of ice and water over a person's head, either by another person or self-administered, to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and encourage donations to research. It went viral on social media during July–August 2014 with even celebrities using this Hashtag

Content Hashtags

If you are totally new to Hashtags, first consider using Hashtags that directly relate to your brand, product or service. Content hashtags will greatly expose your brand to potential customers on those social media platforms who weren’t previously familiar with your brand

I tend to use the # Steemit Hashtag because it's relevant to my Post's,how so? Well, I made this account to specifically help others get up to speed with Steemit by providing educational content like Guides & Tutorials. Try to be specific when it comes to Content-Hashtags by using relevant keywords that relate to the content of your writing

Is there such thing as Responsible Hashtagging? Well, let me tell you this right now! Never use Hashtags that are Irrevalent to your subject or Topic! Abusing Hashtags will make you appear like Amateur Blogger interested in only Upvotes!

So the next time you decide to do some Hashtagging, make sure the tags are Relevant to what your actually writing! If you're abusing the system, you can expect to be likely down-voted and there will be less value for your Posts. Make sure that you Respect the community and Tag Appropriately

Steemians are allowed to use up to 5 Hashtags when writing Posts in order to limit the abuse of Hashtags, Steemit's Community expect us to write Quality Content so choosing the right Hashtag to best relate your content is also our responsibility. In the end, it's all about making your Post appealing to the Audience if you're looking for Value and with proper Hashtags your content will have more visilibity, making it easier & more accessible to find for the general public

I crossed out ''Abuse of Hashtag'' because Steemit has set a Limit of 5 Hashtags, it's best to use up all five Hashtags available in order to promote your content better on Steemit

Using Irrelevant Hashtags, have you recently explored Steemit #\Introduceyourself hashtag to check up on New-comers, only to find irrelevant content! This is a waste of time, because your first intent was to explore a particular category of Posts, this makes things more complicated for the end-user as he/she can't find find for what they are looking for

Using Relevant Hashtags, only a few Steemians are going to be mad if you are using irrelevant Hashtags but as the community progresses there are some special scenarios where using Relevant Hashtags is a must!

This is the case for # NSFW, a Hashtag that promotes Sexually oriented content was recently introduced to Steemit. Main reason is to label Post's based on sensitive content that might discomfort others thus it is a Steemit Etiquette to ensure the proper use of NSFW hashtag whenever appropriate

Let's explore great content that the Steemit community has to offer, there is a Built-In feature that let's you explore popular Tags and Topics! Check out the ''Filter'' Tab or ''Show more Topics'' Option to explore more popular Hashtags used on Steemit

Searching For Less-Popular Tags

If you already explored some of the Tags offered via Steemit you'll notice that these tags tend to be popular meaning that many Steemians seem to be using these hashtags. So if you're interested to search for hashtags that are less popular & rarely used, you will need to manual search for it by exploring Steemit's Decentralized Community

I actually use the hashtag #steemitguide even though it's not popular so if I were to search my posts on Steemit, i would encounter the problem of filtering my hashtag! Because my Hashtag is not popular it won't show or can't be filtered!

There is a way to search for less-popular Hashtags, all you have to do is key in the right address by initiating a search, this is easily done by editing the Web Link. All you need to do is just add your Hashtag to the Web Address!

Red Underline is where your desired Hashtags need to be typed out! Try it out, by searching a random Hashtag
I searched Active Posts, this shows all my Posts where I can receive additional payouts and includes the Hashtag #steemitguide
