Berkeley Riots And New Steemit Changes
"hate speech" and "internet trolling" are terms that people can distort and change to mean whatever they want.
After watching what happened last night in Berkeley, Steemit is giving that same mentality of people more power.
Last night at the Berkeley riots it was because someone was going to give a speech about cultural appropriation and how it is a stupid idea to them, the riots were because they (the rioters) declaired what the speaker was going to say was hate speech. He was banned off twitter for being critical of the new ghost busters movie as it was considered trolling. the speech at Berkley was shut down, 3 banks were destroyed, starbucks looted, a lot of people beat to shit, dragged out of cars and beat to shit, a bunch of fires, women hit in faces with metal bars then peppersprayed or a girl with a "make bitcoin great again" hat getting peppersprayed while giving an interview for the news while saying she supported the protesters because they deserve to have a voice as long as they stay peaceful and not violent.
Ok, what is with this new addition? Steemit is now making it clear that the flags are only going to get worse.
yet for some reason people don't stand up to these crybullys any more they just cave in inch by inch.
They just hid the flagging problems with changing the flag counter to dots next to a flag and make it so flags of a low sp don't show up. So if you look back on old stuff that got flagged my asshole, the flag is still there it just donesnt show up on the flag icon. just look at the vote list it is still there.
I think by making "hate speech" and "internet trolling" reasons to flag someone and censor them it is going to become even more so of an echo chamber for the whales.
If you dont do stuff they like or say something they don't like you will never make money as they will down vote your pay out as "its not worthy according to me" and silence you too. you have no footing to go in a flag war with a whale its like bringing a knife to nuke war.
now any differing opinion or unliked fact will bee deemed hate speech and continuing to try talk about that opinion will be considered trolling. the powers that be on steemit and of the world seem to want everyone to hold the same opinions as them or be punished for "wrong think". coughdancough

Guantanamo bay is a summer camp compared and I as referring to the book as a lot of it is about how that point became to be. sjw culture to the extreme to where everyone is ratting on each other for thought crimes and stuff.
the actual work camp though was millions times worse the Guantanamo bay.

Every time I'm asked, and sometimes when I'm not, I say that the flag criteria are too broad. Then, every time a change is made, the change is to broaden the criteria further. It's like they're trying to break things more.
Yes I agree, the terms 'trolling' and so on are far too vague, get rid of it and just make it so that only spammers, virus posters and scammers are a worthy flag target because as far as I'm concerned if you're against censorship that's really all you should care about.
The biggest problem I've ever had with nearly all community sites that have either gone to shit or are going to shit is that the rules are so vague they let anybody come up with excuses to do whatever they fuck they want, especially mods, be extremely specific so there is no room for people to make up their own interpretations.
I would think they would be watching other social networks and trying not to do whats proven to kill a site.
Calling it a free speech anti censorship platform at this point is a joke.

It looks like to me that you have decided to throw aside any monetary reward this account could have to stick it in some of the whales' eyes on the censorship issue.
I am almost afraid to applaud you for this. Sometimes you take it too far from my point of view, but it's your account. Posting those sick cartoons was funny, but it wasn't going to win you any points in either a power struggle or in an attempt to change minds.
It was that scene from Braveheart where the Scots lifted their kilts and pointed their asses at the English. Some of those asses got an arrow in them.
The reality of it is that nobody can go vote-to-vote with a whale unless they are a whale themselves, and survive on a payout basis. If we want financial reward, then we have to submit to the informal rules, and hope that a whale doesn't target us, or then if that happens hope we get a guardian angel whale.
So I don't think your strategy of confrontation will work, or to change any minds. But I'm not going to lecture you about it either ;>
I've spent enough of my own life tilting at windmills to tell anyone else where to point their damn lance.
For the rest of us, we either become whales ourselves if we want to change the rules that Steemit runs by, or we live by the rules that are set...and maybe we drop a vote on skeptic now and then!

I liked it better when I wasent getting flagged because some whale didn't agree with my opinion. its fucked up censorship.

just look at the view to upvote on the "new" thread: large upvoted/payout posts within an hour old. you will see around 100+ upvotes with under 8 views.
The number of active users is really low compared to what it looks like. imo atleast.

For me, I'm just going to post what I want to post, and hope for a whale hit now and then.
If a whale did target me, I'd be fucked. The community cant do jack shit about that situation, and I dont think it should either...tyranny by mob isnt better than tyranny by despot.
There is no perfect system to prevent tyranny or censorship. Steem Power here is what it is. The devs made their views on flagging pretty clear - it counts as a downvote.
Shitheads are always going to use whatever power they have to silence opposition. If a whale is a shithead, what are you going to do? /shrug
I don't have any solutions either, other than to be a whale. Not so easy if you aint got cash to buy in. (I did put some money in, but not whale money)
So here is the one thing I will criticize you on: when you call them out, either by name or putting up those pics, they are going to target you or spend more time targeting you.
I hope you get a guardian whale, but past that, I don't know what to say...good luck??...try option 6???...do what you think is right??
there is a simple solution but the whales don't want it.
make a down vote that doesn't effect pay out, visbility or rep and have the flag for bot upvote abuse, child porn, copypasta and abuse of the flag for any reason that is not ment for.
Then if someone is flagging someone they have to answer as to why to all of steemit and the whales if word gets out they are abusing it. then the whales could dflag that person back and it would be justified. but then the whales might have to deal with the otr whales that like to censor people and steal pay outs because they don't like someones opinion.
idk seems simple to me.
