Irritated By Steemits Performance? Possible Solutions? 22/10/2017

Hello Steemain so unless you been living under a rock when on Steemit.com these say last 3 or so weeks then you will know Steemit.com has been having issues with its system overloads and DDOS attacks with many nodes seeming to be down.

So if you come on Steemit and have that feeling something isn't working quiet right as it should you can check its status here to confirm your suspicions.

Also another big problem I keep hearing from many Steemians is you may have experienced that your drafts are not getting saved or even posted meaning that sometimes your work is completely lost and for some hours of work as vanished.

Its not fun at all and extremely irritating while so far I have not had this problem I have a computer that often switch's itself off suffering from the blue screen of death meaning I lose my work often if I dont save many times, so trust me I feel your pain!
But anyway this as been shown to be because of the recent DDOS attacks and nodes failing often the advice for now is obviously make sure to save your work often.

So with these problems is anybody taking any action?

Well @bellyrub uses both the steem's blockchain and servers to run its operation with these problems effecting these transactions @zeartul and @someguy123 are in the process of setting up a new full blown node server to help out on tackling with the load on both steem and Steemit.com in the next few weeks coming.

If you been following @buildteam theres been a exciting new update I think its an interesting one because perhaps we can learn from them.
As you probably know buildteam is a parent company to some very popular Steem services like @minnowbooster and @steemvoter.
The way these services work are complex and if you have looked at these accounts you will see a massive number of requests per day.
Now I dont think it takes a genius to comprehend the type of server load for these requests are obviously very big and a standard RPC node is just simply no longer up to the task of serving all these requests.
This is why the @buildteam have announce a new lightspeed RPC Node.

Their performance monitoring as showed excellent performance from using this new faster node.
The RAM and response time is outstanding, they were also able to clear up on a 3 hour backlog in would you believe in less than 15 minutes which is very impressive!

So can you guys see what I am getting at here? It seems the steem and steemit.com infrastructure needs more faster nodes like these ones.
I guess if your a tech type of guy or gal have a huge passion for everything Steem, have the resources I would suggest you set up one of these nodes up.
While I do think it should be the DEV team setting these up its been around 3 weeks now and all these broken nodes are getting tedious to deal with.

I understand everybody is extremely busy with SMTs but honestly as much as it is great these are now available I would rather have more focus on having atleast a workable Steemit.com site the updates to the site in my opinion can wait.
But regardless of that I do believe very much on the Steemit platform we are still in beta and need to remember this position we are the testers we are the ones who are testing this miracle site so lets be also patient.

Yup I been getting it alot for the last week of so and even a bit today its really sucks when you have to refresh it over and over again to try and get your vote and comment in

Wow how annoying the comment I sent you now vanished so here it goes again..well infact I am still having the same issues now I would of thought by now it would be fixed. I also lost a post just the other day this normally never happens I lost it when I posted it, the only time I lose posts is when my pc switches off which happens alot but normally I save it a document. I know this as happened to others but I was so angry.

I am in the process of writing it again argh, are you also still having these issues?? @hotmangoes

Unfortunately yes I still have this issues and it really sucks when I trying to vote and comment sometime I have to refresh the page a good few times and even at that it sometime still give me problems

Dam man its still not fixed arrgh, but sometimes it seems to work better then others, do you also find that at certain times its works ok ? @hotmangoes

I have no idea WHO is behind the DDOS but what puzzles me the most is WHY

To me they fail to understand the basics of blockchain.

Sure 'they' can bombard steemit.com, but the is just one access point (OK it's the most popular one). Any number of other ways are available to access the steem chain eg busy.org etc

Perhaps the best way to combat the DDOS attacks is to a large awareness campaign. Pushing the multi-access concept.
Then 'they' might realise that ddos attacks are an 'old fashioned' way to shut down a web / data service.

Unless it's just "kiddie-scripts"?
But I suspect / think bigger players are involved (I have no proof of this)

$0.02

Why most likely is because there is big money involved here and if they can make something annoying or irritating to use there are always people out there who will get some fun out of messing people around and especially so if money is involved. Haha yea could be zuckerberg's cronies @fred777bear dont forget to upvote

I'm not sure 'fun' is right word but I get your point there is big $ involved.

re upvoting, very difficult as a minnow to up vote stuff.
the daily allowance is so low that it's a waste of time doing it.
my votes mean nothing.
My concerns for the platform are however real.
whales vote themselves enough anyhow, they don't need me :-)

Haha well those who get a kick out of it. Ok @fred777bear but your vote is definitely valuable or atleast to me because its not only money thats at play here you have a 41 rep which is way better the 25 the higher your rep the more points I get on my rep with your vote. Yes the whale circle voting is a problem I do wish some would delegate abit more as I would love to curate some post for people.
