Daily Steem Price Update 7/9/2019
Good day Steemian welcome to today's Steem price update for 7/9/2019.
I have been posting the Steem price update since almost the very beginning of Steemit.com.
Many have came here to discuss the daily Steem price's and changes for over 2 years now.
I also want to mention incase your wondering that when something doesn't seem normal from the other regular "Price Updates" that the daily Steem price posts do occasionally change their format from time to time.
But regardless of changes we will carry on as usual and by this I mean knowing the price of Steem as it's important for your daily plan or strategy.
And even if you are not planing to do anything with your Steem I still recommend checking out these updates and so keeping an eye on the price.
So without further ado lets take a look at today's Daily Steem Price change for 7/9/2019.
Should you be trading with Steem today...?
Some hiccups with Steemit as we know it recently crashed again but it was quickly fixed, yet it was mostly the same problem's of not being able to post or upvote. Thankfully these last few days everything seems to be back-up and running. It's annoying as it adds more general delays in keeping this ship moving forward which seems to be especially more important since the HardFork21 and 22 switch over.
Brace yourselves HardFork-21 and 22 is HERE!
We are now currently running on Hardfork-22 the initial change-over to HF-21 happened on 27th August. There was of course many Steemians coming on and out of their way to see what was happening on Steemit when it changed. From what I could see it really was community at it's best, as I think regardless of the new changes it brought many people even closer. I loved especially all the posts from those who were sneaking on to Steemit while at work or when their spouse was distracted, some while travelling, regardless of what people were doing they were all login-on to their favourite social media Steemit. We connected and commented on each other's posts about what we were experiencing, with our initial reactions to Hardfork21. The change-over actually started very smoothly, as at first you could barely even notice we had already switched over to HF-21. But this didn't last long lol... Sure everything seemed fine for the first hour but soon after Steemit came crashing down. But the Dev Team were monitoring the event and so the whole blockchain was quickly restored. But unfortunately it was noticed that the fix still brought some issues with mostly many of us still not being able to create any posts neither could we vote. I believe this problem lasted around 6 to 7 hours before it was resolved. The cause of the problem? Funnily it was a whale who was about to test the new downvote pool, and so a very large downvote was cast... and bang.. the blockchain went down!
Brace Yourselves!! HARDFORK 22!
HARDFORK 22, yes it happened but before you think SMT's are available like right now.. NO! they are not, basically there was a issue that had been discovered which was preventing delegations from functioning properly. Now you maybe thinking this is no big deal but it sure was a problem for those who are very new to Steem. This was because Steemit couldn't delegate those newly created accounts and SP, if you didn't know new accounts get a delegation from Steemit to get themselves started. The issue was discovered due to again only the big Steem account Power holders not being able to delegate. Haha yes seems it's the whales who keep stepping on all the bugs. Anyway so the Steemit accounts couldn't delegate any SP to those new and so leaving them enabled to do anything on the blockchain. The problem also goes much deeper than just that but I'am sure you already understand how this can already be problematic. And so the solution was to quickly Fork again to revolve the problem. And so here we are on Hardfork 22 already, but minus the SMT's. But it didn't end there Steem went down yet again leaving us for many hours even day's without the use of voting or posting. The blockchain halted this time round due to a bug in the curation's reward curve but luckily the Dev team were able to develop a patch which did not necessitate even yet another hardfork. Yes we were nearly about to end up in hardfork 23. And honestly it did almost feel like another hardfork as I will mention that this problem had caused issues for the exchanges with some wallets being enabled of any use, which could explain why the price didn't move much I'am just happy to report those wallets now working again. Anyway as for the actual bug it was incredibly difficult detect even with it's insane "out-come". I mean you guys are going to love this.. so the bug resulted in some weird curation reward weight like "-1" which resulted in a computed value of "2^64 - 1" which means when paid out these votes would be tempting to receive trillions in Steem!! Imagine that! Obviously this kind of behaviour would prompt a safety catch to stop it from happening, but in the end I'am just very happy the blockchain is back up and running, now please some stability is what I hope comes next.
