Good day Steemian welcome to today's Steem price update for 5/2/2019 I have been posting the Steem price update since almost the very beginning of Steemit.com many have came here to discuss the daily Steem prices and changes for just over 2 years now.

I also want to mention just incase your thinking something doesn't seem normal from the other regular Price update posts that the daily Steem price posts do slightly change from time to time.

But regardless of changes we will carry on as usual and by this I mean knowing the price of Steem as its important for your daily plan or strategy and honestly even if you are not planing to do anything with your Steem I still recommend checking out these updates and keeping an eye on the price, so without further ado lets take a look at today's Daily Steem Price Change for 5/2/2019

Should you be trading with Steem today..

It's February already what happened to the first month? It seems that when it comes to the Steem INC power downs Ned said there will be a cap on how far they go which is what I expected to happen, while this is a big relief for many Steemians it's a huge disappointment for those who wanted to buy-in at cheaper prices, that is not to say you might not still get Steem's price going lower as powerdowns are still going on. As for Bitcoin's part it was interesting how the previous fall's show Steem being barely affected, but now that seems to be catching-up along with the news of some other exchange problems leading-up to this now lower price from it's high of $0.43. Still Bitcoin's latest downwave was on the 28th Jan and Bitcoin's highest was in Jan at $4075 but it fell to $3491, with the 4th downwave taking Bitcoins from $3531 down to $3387 and we dont seem to be recovering yet. Steem still did start this February in a better position than when we started the year as just yesterday it was holding on to the $0.30 mark but by ⏰00.15 had already fallen to $0.29 and ⏰07.30 to $0.28 at ⏰18.15 when it managed to get back to $0.29. But unfortunately today at ⏰00.15 Steem was back at $0.28 and at that time it was pretty much already on downward wagon and so it was very much expected to continue down. By around ⏰04.00 Steem had already reached it's bottom for the rest of today which as been at $0.27 and as not moved. Remember you can still take some risk on waiting for the possibly that one of Steemit INC's powerdowns will lower the price enough to buy Steem cheaper, but be weary of this as there is no longer the need to panic as Steemit INC will be capping their powerdowns as now we know how Steemit-INC are handling this move. This whole thing was important because that account held around 44 million Steem. If nothing much happens in 2019 then I hope those who are in the game will take the opportunity to keep collecting Steem especially if the Steemit account continues to power down a little further. Steem at these low prices and with the Steem power-downs it places us on a survival mode era basically Bitcoin dropped drastically forcing Steem's value to tank causing Steem-INC staff reductions, a possible threat to the website and the Steemit's account security. The conclusion is to cut down the costs of nodes. Hivemind is now live the "steemd" instance size's went from 488GB RAM to now shockingly 61GB RAM! Focus is on a multi index RocksDB adapter which is a new technology in development to allow the Steem blockchain nodes to store almost all of it's necessary data to a disk in a modern database instead of RAM, this move will make nodes cheaper. Ned also said that the cost reduction progress will still remain above the creation of SMT's which I feel is the right move. Also nodes continue to run well on hivemind and which it was only made possible thanks to AppBase. SBD's for the past 2 days as been trying to hold-on at $0.92 but keeps getting pulled back down to $0.89. We saw this again yesterday at ⏰01.00 SBD's were once again at $0.92 but while SBD's did fall back to $0.89 again it took alot longer. From there SBD's bumped mostly between $0.90 and $0.89 but we also had 2 downbumps taking SBD's to $0.88. But for today there was no sign of $0.92 for SBD's nor even the $0.90 mark, well ok that is abit of lie... it did happen but very briefly twice just before ⏰01.00. And yes we started at $0.89 which was no surprise and we expected to see the $0.88 fall, but SBD's continue to fall, this was mostly at ⏰05.55 where SBD's fell to $0.85 not much happened after, it landed back on $0.87 once between ⏰08.45 and ⏰11.40 which is where we thought it would remain but after it mostly bumped between $0.85 and $0.86.
