Good day Steemian welcome to today's Steem price update for 17/1/2019 I have been posting the Steem price update since almost the very beginning of Steemit.com many have came here to discuss the daily Steem prices and changes for just over 2 years now.

I also want to mention just incase your thinking something doesn't seem normal from the other regular Price update posts that the daily Steem price posts do slightly change from time to time.

But regardless of changes we will carry on as usual and by this I mean knowing the price of Steem as its important for your daily plan or strategy and honestly even if you are not planing to do anything with your Steem I still recommend checking out these updates and keeping an eye on the price, so without further ado lets take a look at today's Daily Steem Price Change for 17/1/2019

Should you be trading with Steem today..

We left 2018 with Steem at $0.26 and now we may see Steem fall back "MUCH LOWER" from its January high, not $0.32 but now $0.34. I did expected the recent Bitcoin downwaves as I mentioned it 3 days prior to it happening, Bitcoin was at $4075 and fell to $3491, today we seem to be holding just under the 2nd downwave "line" not great but better, what is surprising is Steem remains above $0.30. Some say it was the darkoverlord account which got Steem noticed with the recent banning news which added to the price bump. Still bitcoins highest today was $3620 at ⏰18.30 which is still slightly lower than yesterdays. Anyway if your a buyer one of the biggest and best opportunities to buy Steem "might" present its-self in a few weeks time the big opportunity is firstly due to knowing that Ned as been powering down, but so as the Steemit account, PANIC mode ON! Nope don't panic yet. If your wondering why this is the case it's because that account holds around 35 million Steem!! If the powerdown's don't stop in 13 weeks all that Steem will be tokenized meaning the price of Steem will drop. While this means the end of days for some we still don't know what exactly Steem-INC are doing and no I don't believe they are running away with the money..seems more like their mission is to protect it. As for Steem today we continued upwards from where we left at $0.30 and as you might have already gathered we reached a new price height for 2019, Steem reached £0.34 at ⏰06.55 this lasted till ⏰08.50 we then saw it fall to today's lowest which was $0.31 at ⏰10.20. If nothing much happens in 2019 then I hope those who are in the game will take the opportunity to keep collecting Steem especially if the Steemit account continues to power down over the next weeks. And so at these low prices and with the Steem power downs we are still on a survival mode era of Steemit.com, Bitcoin dropped drastically forcing Steem's value to tank causing Steem-INC staff reductions a possible threat to the website and the Steemit account security. The conclusion is to cut down the costs of nodes among other strategies which will take time to implement. Right now there is a focus on a multi index RocksDB adapter which is a new technology in development to allow the Steem blockchain nodes to store almost all it's necessary data to a disk in a modern database instead of RAM, this move will make nodes cheaper. Not only that but Hivemind is now live they have decreased the "steemd" instance sizes from 488GB RAM to now would you believe 61GB RAM!! Steemit INC said they are on track with it's cost reductions and with SMT's. SBD's fell from $0.86 down to $0.73 very quickly and now we are seeing the recovery that we had been hopping for.. actually more than that, as you can see we have returned to $0.86 SBD's at ⏰01.25 but for the first time in 2019 SBD's have reached $0.90 wow getting so close to $1.00, this happened at ⏰07.25 it then fell to $0.82 at ⏰14.25 which was a little lower then expected but it rightly recovered.
