I'm the sort of person who goes for years with the same wardrobe.

I tend not to buy things for myself unless I absolutely need it.

Growing up, I knew not to ask for things if it wasn't around Christmas or my birthday -- if I asked for something, I would just be told to wait until those times to ask again.

So that's how I was raised. And even now that I'm an adult and I make my own money, I still have that ingrained sense that "that isn't for me" or "I don't need to buy that."

It's so bad that I remember listening to the budget guru, Dave Ramsey, talking about making a monthly allotment for clothing, stating it as a necessity, and to give it a hundred or more dollars per month, and I just laughed. Or when my high school home economics teacher tried to tell me that I NEED to budged for a cable TV membership, because there's no way I would live on my own without cable TV.

However, with the big payouts I've been getting on Steemit, I decided to splurge and actually buy a pair of shoes to replace my year old pair with huge holes in them.

Thanks for the shoes, Steemit!!

This is just a simple pair of leather (possibly pleather) Sketchers.

They're slip-ons with laces. And they are actually super comfortable.

I know it's not much, but for me to give myself the permission to spend more than $60 on something that isn't groceries, a bill, or an oil change is kind of a big deal.
