Here are my weekly Steem and Steemit statistic charts.
In week 6 of 2018, price of Steem decreased by 14.5% while the SBD price increased by 26.6%. The consolidation of prices now also has an effect on the activity key figures. However, total accounts and daily vistors continue to rise.

Inflation Rates

Steem: 8.99% per year
SBD: 6.73% per week

There are linear charts. Its only the first chart that is logarithmic. For the all in one chart linear it is not possible.

Very cool charts, I am still trying to figure all this out, thank you for your research

Hey @sevenseals, have seen a buddy of mine comment on a few of your posts. Had two questions I thought you might have the answer to:

  1. Despite the sbd hyperinflation, there's obviously high demand for SBD right now, given the price. What's driving this? Is it just crypto speculation?

  2. I'm assuming it will take a mass sell-off for the SBD to drop below $1 USD at this point... assuming that happens, and the SBD drops below $1, does the "Convert to Steem" option come back and still allow people to trade 1 SBD for 1 USD?

As I read those questions over, I'm not sure they're great questions after all.

I guess what I'm trying to work out is - how is the internal regulation going to bring the SBD back to $1? At the moment it seems like demand is out-stripping the inflation.

  1. In my opinion, people investing in or speculate on SBD have no idea what SBD is. They don't know how the self-regulation of SBD works. Even here at steemit I found out that many people do not understand the self-regulation of SBD.

  2. The "convert to steem" option is inactive so that people don't sell their SBD below its value, but rather on the market where they get more. I think this option will come back if the price of SBD if the price approaches the 1 dollar mark. It's the only way to keep the SBD from falling below a dollar one.

Her is an article I wrote some times ago. Its in german but you can translate it in english with https://deepl.com/translator Its a very good translator, better than google translate.

Hope that helps you.

Maybe they know what SBD is and do it intentionally for profit?

Would you buy a piece of butter for 4 dollars if you knew it was only worth 1 dollar and every week 7% more butter would come on the market?

It depends on what else I knew and could do with that knowledge.

Danke Dir für die Statistik.
Habe Dich und Deine Statistiken zuletzt in meinem Post vor 9 Tagen erwähnt.
Gruss

great post, thanks for sharing. shame UK is only on 3rd place :)

shame Germany is only on 4th place :)

What causes the sbd inflation rate?

When post payout occurs, the system creates more SBD to pay you with.

There used to be a built-in mechanism to "convert to steem", which actually destroyed the sbd, but that's been taken out while the SBD value is so high.

Hence, lots of sbd being created and not destroyed.

@rossdcurrie already explained it well. It should be added that SBD is also destroyed when using the "Promote" function.

I've been promoting almost all of my posts for .001 sbd.

Thank you so much for continuously listing
