Steemshop escrow transaction walkthrough - FIRST SALE COMPLETE!
@jockey and I have walked through the first transaction using the @steemshop process using the @steemshopescrow account
...and we are pleased to announce that it works perfectly!
Why is the escrow account important?
Because it improves financial security during the transaction process.
Please follow these SIX SIMPLE STEPS to better understand this process:
STEP 1
Sales Post
@samstonehill's sales post had been resteemed into the @steemshop account because he used #steemshop as one of his five tags
@steemshop has a dedicated team manning this process
@jockey informed @samstonehill that he wanted to buy his photo
STEP 2
@jockey transferred 1 SBD to @steemshopescrow account
Please use the original title of the sales post as your memo at this stage
It is worth noting that @steemshopescrow can be easily misspelt and Steemshop will not be held liable if you make a mistake.
STEP 3
@samstonehill saw the payment had been made into @steemshopescrow account
Using steemit.chat, @samstonehill then sent a wetransfer link to @jockey for the download of the high resolution royalty free photograph
STEP 4
@jockey then informed @steemshop on steemit.chat to release the money to @samstonehill
STEP 5
@steemshopescrow sent 1 SBD to @samstonehill using original sales title as the memo
STEP 6
Finally @jockey sent 0.01 SBD to @steemshopescow with a memo confirming completion of transaction and any thoughts or comments.
The 0.01 SBD will buy you a resteem into the @samstonehill and @jockey accounts who have a combined total of 1400 followers.
The benefits of Step 6
Successful transactions will be clearly visible in the @steemshopescrow wallet, building confidence within the community
The buyers can view previous successful transactions by the seller
The resteeming to an extra 1400+ follows will earn you extra pay-out from your sales post

Duuude I posted about this idea like in my first five posts haha. Glad it is working. Can't wait to see Steemit replace eBay with fee free transactions. I think it's pretty risky just using the Steemitchat for this.
I'd like ot help out with the shop if possible.
Can Steem support smart contracts? Would there be some way of streamlining this whole process? I see there will be a need for it.
I don't have any answers for you. Sorry. I'm still getting a feel for this place, myself.
I just know that Steemitchat goes down, sometimes for days. So it doesn't seem like the most reliable way to go.

Why do you feel steemit.chat to be risky?
Steemit.chat lost my account one time. I was able to use the same email and create another one tho. I am still trying to figure out how to use it properly.
EDIT: The password recovery thing never sent me the email. But I could have been user error.
It crashed hard and was unavailable for several days not terribly long ago. It's also had hiccups and long crashes since.
So if Steemitchat goes down, it renders the shop unusable for however many hours/days it's down.
It would probably be safer to use a Discord server for it. And you can get bots to work there, too.
Very interesting ... This store could trade several items. Anything digital could be traded on it, this would turn Steem into a currency of exchange in the digital world.
Imagine selling courses whose payment is Steem ... It really is very interesting!

As this starts to gain traction, you guys might consider assigning every SteemShop listing a unique ID number/code that would make it easier to track each item from creation of sales post to completed transaction... just saying this as a long time eBay/Etsy seller.
Otherwise, great stuff!
Ultimately it will be a unique ID number on our main site, but for now on Steemit we are going to stick with a copy/paste sales post title.

This is pretty cool, adding an escrow middleman is a nice step to ensure confidence in the buy/sell/trade process.
Soon I will begin offering my photography and art for sale within my Steemit posts, so this is good.
In order to use @steemshopescrow, do you require the communication to be through Steemitchat, or can it be over on discord as private messages back/forth?
