Best Practice as a Steemit Starter

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

There are things you should be concern with when you join Steemit. First you are focusing in creating your introductory post and then followed with some quality post.

It is true that it is very hard to start in Steemit because there is no newbie startup tips only some FAQ which is too general for a newbie and possibly create some confusion in the process.

Aside from building your Steem Power and earning some Steem Dollar, there should other things you need to be conscious on , its your "etiquette" , since this more like social community driven platform. You should interact with people and continue to build with them.

Now i have a simple list that would help Starters

A. Be polite to others

You should connect politely with others, as much as possible do not do negative comments or offensive comments unless you know what is your stand. Let those people who really know the system do the task. You are still a newbie and so much to learn , even though if you have intensive experience in real life. In Steemit you should consider other's opinion and ideas.

We do have different ideas in mind, we should get something from them and in return we may able to share ours also. It is more like a give and take knowledge. We are all still in learning process, there's still much to learn.

B. Do not use common words only

There are instances that you will need to use common words such as "Thank you" , "Good", "Great" , "Thanks" and other short common words. If you are using this type of words, you should add up some sentences into it.

This is to keep away from Steemit members who don't like common words being used only and possibly you will get a flag for it which results the decrease of your reputation. If you will need of using common words put at least one sentence into it. Adding some flavors would possibly get upvote from other people instead.

C. Do not flag or down vote people

You are still building your reputation and still you are building your account. Better to keep away from flagging or down voting other people. Let those big reputation and steem power do the task. It is to keep you away from some possible flag wars.

There might be possibility that you down voted a minnow such as yourself and that minnow has a big power or big reputation and will down vote your post in return. So the collateral effect is bad , so don't do it for now.

If you can't stand it and you want to down vote, call a community that would do the task, never do it yourself.

D. Do not ask someone to follow you or ask an upvote

There is a negative effect when you beg for an upvote or to follow you. Someone will notice it and you might get yourself a down vote. Just do create a better post and along the way , people will notice you and they will follow you when they get interested in your post.

Please comment your ideas, if there are still something that i have missed or you may correct if i have statement that contradict with your side. Please let me know, anyway we need experience.

VEry helpful tips i guess i should edit my signature at the end of my posts then 🙈

yes, it is better that way . Just continue to create good quality post. =)

This is informative, especially to us newbies here in this platform. thanks man! Resteemed!

This is great! Thank you for the tips. I have a quick question, when people ask for an upvote or a follow at the end of their posts, does it actually make you want to upvote or follow them? Thanks! Would also appreciate if you checked out some of my posts on study tips!

i just read them and do nothing about it. I have checked your post and it seems you are too young and yet you have created such post. You have possibly some talents within you, i can't imagine if you grow up , you could be a great quality content maker. =)

Great job creating this little guide :)
Flagging people is a sure way to end your account's life if you do it to the wrong people too hehe.
Cheers

yes, it is very true @spiritualmax . Better to stay away with them unless you have great connections with big steem power members which supports your back when you get down voted. =) I have seen so much of them since i joined steemit. Too many to mention them , but i prefer to keep them in my way. You can see them along the way.
