UP-VOTING YOURSELF

2017-07-26 07.04.57.png

This question has never really been answered

should you up-vote your own post?

Well lets face it, we may not ever get the right answer to this question. One thing is for sure, there is an option for you to do this to everyone of your post..

20170827_121111.png

One would have to believe that it was intended to be used, or the platform wouldn't have made it an option. I have seen it being used by, minnows, dolphins and whales, but is it right?

AT WHAT POINT IS IT ABUSE

I think this might be the reason you can not get a straight forward answer on this question. When selecting this option, you post will automatically give you a 100 % up-vote, now for some this could be .01 cents and for others it coould be $20.00. Which the $20.00 seems like abuse, but is it? That memeber has obviously either been on the platform for a lengthy period of time or they have invested in the platform. I will give you an example, if a new memeber joins and on there second day they invest $3,000 in steem, thier vote now would be worth around .40cents. So now ask yourself the question, should they up-vote themselves?

I don't have the answer to this question, but I wish someone did

What I do know is, that when people invest, they expect a return on thier investment. That return could come from steem going up, or they could lose from steem going down.

Is a self Up-vote the same as a dividend.

Now here is a good way to look at up-voting your own post. Its a dividend off of your investment. So if you look at it this way, then the answer would be, yes you should up-vote your own post.

MY OPINION ON THIS QUESTION.

I do not have the answer, but I can give you my Opinion. If you want to up-vote yourself fine, just make sure you are up-voting others as well. I believe it becomes abuse when the only person you gets your up-vote is YOU!

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR FEEDBACK AND THOUGHTS ON THIS QUESTION.

I'd say: Give at least as much as you take

Go ahead and upvote yourself! But if you have a slider make it an appropriate amount. Some of my posts i hit with 25%, others the full load. Comme ts too. I usually give at least 10% but sometimes they make me laugh or are poignant and so...full load!
Also, i like to give out large ones to peeps who are propping me up, that way i can kinda order them under the post.

Cheers! from @thedamus

And now to do what i said i was gonna do...

Oh look you just got 100

Ha! So did you!

I upvoted your comment @thedamus, because you gave some great advice here and I know you personally. :)

Buddy! So glad to see you here!!!

Upvoted and following ;)

So i hit Ray's post with 100. Then i hit mine with a 100. Now i'm gonna spray 3 x 50's on the best replies. Seems reasonable to me :)

The above i hit with 25, after giving ray's comment a hunski... fun stuff when you get it right! And now i'mma gonna chill -- been sucking in the seventies for too long ;)

As a new minnow, I think it's useful and appropriate for getting some initial traction. I've only done it a few times only to TRY get my posts seen better, and definitely not for the $.01 or $0 I get from it. I think it's not a bad tool to use since it's at our disposal, but only when you need to (like getting off the ground).

Good way to look at it. Thanks for the comment.

Sure - interesting to see how my first responder comment is at the bottom of the pool so quickly. If I upvoted my own comment, would that have changed anything (if I carried more power)?

Wow,,, calm down buddy, just a simple over look, thats all. Power doesn't mean anything to me

Not directed at you at all. Didn't intend for it to be read as something personal, so sorry it didn't flow right. Was trying to understand the ropes of how the entire system works given the relevant topic of your post.

Different people vote different ways. Some vote at first responders, some vote for the best comment pertaining to the post and some, well they dont vote at all. Here is how I do it. If you upvote my post and your comment is decent then I will upvote your comment.

I have the vote up button set on my account. Why not get an up vote on your own work. I look at it as this... Your up vote for yourself means you stand behind your work. As far as the people with huge Steem accounts voting up their own stuff. SWEET. More power to them. Cheers.

Excellant way to stand behind your work. Never really thought of it that way. Thanks for the visit.

Your up vote for yourself means you stand behind your work.

what nonsense! cheers

What is your take on it, my good friend @pawos ?

surely you can upvote your own post and some times your own comment, but others will decide whether your comment is valuable or not. witness @nexion wrote a good post about self voting policy. maybe interesting... i'm not against voting your own post. i just can not find crowe's argument correctly.

thanks for clearing this issue up :)

Sometimes I up vote my own comments so I can move up to the top of the thread if I have something important that I would like to be seen. Like this new cool bot I'd like to show off! @originalworks

Very well written! Personally, I may or may not upvote my own posts. There's some that I have and then some I haven't. The majority of the time I upvote peoples comments on my post, if they're genuine comments and not "generic" ones like "nice" or something similar. You know what I'm talking about because you get several of them and I actually laughed at one of them just the other day.

One thing that I have noticed from a particular member is that he upvotes all of his own posts AND his own comments but rarely upvotes anyone else's unless they're a dolphin or whale and he's trying to kiss ass. Now, it's his account and he can run it the way he wants to but to me, I think that exhibits poor taste and shows what type of character he has.

But I'm still extremely new here and still have a lot to learn, so I may be looking at this all wrong. Just my .02 cents.

It was a good .02 cents. I stoped playing with the ones that dont upvote back. There is a long list of them my friend. Minnows stay with minnows whales stay with whales and dolphins stay with dolphins. Now dont gey me wrong some of them will mingle with the minnows but not many. Thanks for your comment and visit.

Yea i think its ok to upvote your own posts, i dont bother upvoting my own comments but the post is ok. I bought a bit of steem so that i can add $0.02/3 to a post so i add some small value and have some to upvote and reward people that take time to comment.

Good plan.

I no longer upvote my own posts or comments, I prefer to use the votes on supporting others posts and comments.

I have gone that route as well in the past. Not to for sure if it works. Thanks for the visit and comment

Great post my friend Up&Resteem

Thanks

My pleasure dear friend :)
