Distressing...the Stress
It was in the fresh morning hours of I don’t remember what was the day like, when a familiar face stepped in the Ravijojla Studios premises with a shabby looking bunch of something really old. An instant breeze of days long past flew in the room and made itself quite comfortable as someone who had a real good story to present before our very eyes. The brought-in bundle was bound fast with a twisty rope that made a knot in the middle of a cross over a worn-out yellowish paper, the kind some stores are selling even now under the common Vintage label. Standing in front of such a raw treasure, made me feel the burden of engagement. First and most important:
For those of us keen to rewind ages and eras back in time for the sake of superb quality items, but still reasonable enough to not live in the past, old-time stuff is of particular charm. Those are the things that miraculously impress us, though worn out and used, mainly because of its outlined characteristics of being Premium. It’s a multi-component composite, still the must-have ingredient should be one of the kind. One of the things that makes me miserable about the frivolous use of Vintage (more than the obvious ignorance of the word meaning) is that all too often it reduces vintage not merely to a trade label but to an attribute of ordinary rank items that have dropped down the production line in the past more than two days.
This is not the introduction chapter to the Theory of be vintage and stay vintage, still using the words properly is a major skill, mastered in early school days. We want to pass the message right, don’t we? Undoubtedly, we do. That also applies taking the option of being lazy with words out of the equation.
Old-time is IN and reading is fashionable…again?
Looking for the firm expertise on the matter, the ones with indisputable reputation I had to choose among were of course The Oxford Dictionaries, the Meriam-Webster, since 1828, and the prominent Cambridge Dictionary, all of them claiming a certain vintage-ness of their own…even your favourite encyclopaedia will do! Each of these are so kind to offer their modernized applications for you who prefer to touch pads instead of paper. A quick glance at a randomly chosen one, provokes the wish to name the things with their proper names.
Definition of vintage in English: vintage(n.),(adj.) 1. The year or place in which wine, especially wine of high quality, was produced. ‘1982 is one of the best vintages of the century’ 2. The time that something of quality was produced. ‘rifles of various sizes and vintages’ 3. Denoting something from the past of high quality, especially something representing the best of its kind.
The requirement to have both - the certain time and the attribute of premium quality - sets a firm as a wall condition in front of those who wish to deal with that matter. How do we manage requirements disguised as walls? The incomplete so far Steemit Book of Wisdom gives a nice tip: Climbawalkaroundit! No matter it was an advice to be used at tree-obstacles, I think that may well refer to wall-requirements too. Courtesy to @dreemsteem for that facilitating tool.
Voila, folks! With minds set at ease, the work can begin. I prepared a video of what has finally become of the stringed bundle content. The past time composite is seen from an airplane, and as for the premium uniqueness…? This is something to be left for the future third generation to pronounce themselves on. As per of today, Ravijojla Studios is pleased to present an Old-time memory treasured and collected to please even the most pretentious tastes.
