Greetings from the SEA Steemit Meetup
I'm Brenn, aka @rampant, and i'm making this post from Siem Reap, Cambodia.
I'm a long time digital nomad, software engineer, and bodypainter.
I'm here with @menta @faddat, @kloudery, and now @steemitcity. We are all at the first SEA Steemit meetup and having a blast. These are some of the best people you'll ever meet!

We are all here for the steemit meetup and wearing steemit shirts spreading the good word. We are at Anchorhub with a bunch of fellow tech lovers, cryptocurrency lovers, and other adventurous types.
STEEMIT CITY IS A GO
Together with @menta @faddat, @kloudery, and now @steemitcity, we are creating a city for Steemians!
What is Steemit city?

Just outside (but close enough) to Siem Reap, Cambodia we are building the ultimate Digital Nomad mecca. Life is inexpensive and good. Network access will be fantastic (we are sourcing 1Gbps lines), and the weather is glorious.
It's an actual city, right at the edge of Cambodia's second largest city. Visas are easy to come and live here and it's gorgeous.
Here's what the project entails:
- Finding quality living space that is affordable for at least 20-30 people to start (under $300 a month - totally doable here)
- Getting world class internet installed with multiple backbones for redundancy
- Getting high quality power supply along with backup generators.
- Creating an exciting, creative, energetic place for artists, technologists, and creators of all types.
- We are collaborating with DASH as well for multiple crypto-currency support
- Blockchain based banking and ATMs on top of traditional options
THE HOW
We're going to rent an ENTIRE HOTEL here in Siem Reap. Sound crazy? It's not. When you rent the whole thing it's shockingly cheap, observe:

We'll have space, bandwidth, AC, and even staff. We'll have rooms available for fellow digital nomads and steemians.
Why Siem Reap?
The art scene here is amazing. The food is fantastic. Life is cheap. Seeing the rest of Asia is easy as we are minutes from the airport. We also have a pirate metal bar!

That sounds like an awesome project guys. You should consider adding our Point-of-Sales terminal all over the city to get paid. www.BlockPay.ch I will definitely drop by for a beer to visit you all. Siem Reap is an awesome place :D
That sounds great. We want the place to run on crypto as much as possible. It will be a way to experiment on what it takes to build an all crypto economy.
That's a great idea. We're definitely looking into ways to incorporate crypto payments into the Steemit city ecosystem!

Steemit city is going to be a social experiment on as scale that hasn't been seen before. This is what happens when you put great minds together.

This is a truly awesome idea, it was a pleasure to be in the company of some true techno nerds this weekend ( @rampant @menta @faddat) . Steemit City is a cool idea and in SE Asia too... you cant get any better, beautiful surrounds, cheap beers, awesome people and a growing audience, its gonna be an awesome Utopia set to the back drop of Angkor Wat, a wonder of the world, Steemit can be the cyber wonder within it!

What a very interesting and innovative project @rampant
While I'm pretty much grounded and happy in Florida, I'll definitely share this out because I think it's a super cool idea. I don't think it will be utopia (because people in general are a-holes) - but you get a group of like-minded people and it could be a beautiful thing.
Utopia litterally means "no place" and thats why. I will say this though, the siem reap expat community is phenomenal. Everyone is warm,inviting, and helpful. You couldnt ask for a better core.
Yes we are awesome, hahah..! Great to meet you in person, was so cool to hang out for a few days... see you in November for body painting..!
