An Introduction To Semrush - Keyword Estimated Traffic Calculation And Difficulty Score By Semrush - SEO Tutorial Series - # 8

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the eighth tutorial in my SEO tutorial series. I am very much happy that we're progressing day by day, and that we gonna complete our On-Page SEO part in next few tutorials which should be great!

Firstly, It's a great honor that @donkeypong appreciated the work and not only that, he moved forward and made a big healthy post to support this tutorial series. I can't express how happy I am. It's really a great surprise to me. Thank you my friend @donkeypong . This is something I could never forget.

Back to our topic. In the last tutorial, we studied about the metrics introduced by Majestic. Although Moz and Majestic are two great SEO industries and their scores are usually enough, but if we can get a little bit more with the help of other metrics, then it will strengthen our strategy and chances of success will increase.

Please take a note that there are dozens of industries that have their own metrics but I'd not bother to explain all of them because their representations are either weak or make no sense at all. Some of them copy Moz and Majestic algorithm so there is no point to discuss them at all.

It's going to be a short but nice tutorial in which, some important information will be covered related to Semrush features and its main use. Most of the features are "Paid" and I am not really convinced personally to use their service for now so I can't take screenshots of paid features.

Semrush Estimated Traffic Calculations For Keyword:

Semrush is widely used for keyword research. Millions of people use their data to know about estimated traffic on 1st ranked result is expected to get if they rank for their desired keyword.

The term "Traffic" refers to "Visitors". If your keyword has 100,000 search volume monthly, then using Semrush data, you can find out how much visitors you can expect to get if you're ranked on 1st position in Google SERP.

Since it's a paid feature. I'd not recommend to use it for now. The reason is explained in conclusion part.

Semrush Keyword Difficulty Score:

Semrush offers its own keyword difficulty tool which is paid (free for limited entries). And take a note that you shouldn't pay for any kind of service if you're new to SEO field because you'd not be able to take use of their offered plans. You need to understand how things work first.

I entered a keyword "cape cod polishing cod" which has 390 searches per month. "Results" column represents the number of results Google returned when the keyword is searched, and "Keyword Difficulty Percentage" refers to how difficult or easy it is, to rank for your desired keyword.

In my case, Keyword difficulty percentage is 81%. That means I must have millions of dollars to invest if I want to rank for that keyword because sites like craiglist are ranking at the top 10 results. If you're analyzing keywords through Semrush paid feature, then make sure that competition percentage is less than 30% or else make sure that you have a good sum of money to rank.

I'd never go with keywords that have low search volume and high difficulty. If you're aiming a keyword which is searched 500,000 times a month, then investing a few thousand is not a bad idea because of the number of visits you'll get.

Conclusion:

Semrush is a reliable keyword research site which has other tons of features. You can even do competitor's analysis with them. We'll cover "Competitor's Analysis" part slowly but steadily. The best use of Semrush is, when you have a bunch of low competition keywords in your hands, you can put them into Semrush to see how many visitors are expected with each keyword, and start with the best one if you're sure about your strategy. In short, you must have a bunch of good keywords to use Semrush efficiently. That's why you should ignore it for now.

Important Info:

In my next tutorial, I'm going to start "Keyword Difficulty Analysis" part from scratch so you should make sure that you do not miss any of my future tutorial posts because it's time to go advanced. It's time to go for results. It's time for you to learn something which you won't learn in any other single place. Thanks to the Steemit community because if there were not you guys, I would not share my knowledge with any of you.

My special thank goes to @donkeypong once again for bringing attention to this SEO Tutorial Series.

Thanks for brining this information to steemit. Generating more visibility for steemit is one way anyone can help the platform. Even a minnow can write a post that generates thousands of views. Not all of the readers will join... but some will.

Now we just need to find a way to reward people for those views...

Thanks for taking the time to write this series. I will do my best to follow your advice.

Hey @hanshotfirst

Thank you for spending your precious time here. I appreciate it.

That is true. Through SEO, even minnows can help and take part in the growth of Steemit. They just need to optimize their posts and target the "right" keyword. I've completed "Keyword Research" part already and now we're heading towards "Keyword Difficulty Analysis".

Once we complete this keyword difficulty analysis part, it should be easier to target relevant and easy keywords.

With the support of reputable steemians like you and @donkeypong , I am sure that we could reach to more audience. Thanks for that!

Upvote if @donkeypong brought you here. I will defenitly read these series.

Thank you @robi . @donkeypong is one of my great friends indeed.

I use the paid version of semrush. If you want me to take a few screenshots and upload them for you let me know what you want. It will need to be generic and not my own domains as I'm sure you can appreciate.

Thanks @steemtruth

I really appreciate your offer. I'll let you know when I need screenshots.

@princewahaj you are awesome. Thank you for writing this tutorials.
I am a newbie on Steemit and do not know enough about this community. Guys like you help us to engage, improve our knowledge and contribute more.

Yesterday I published a very important post about scam that is promoted on steemit. But I didn't have in mind SEO tactics, nor I have large number of followers. Consequently, results are poor. Just couple of members saw an article: https://steemit.com/steemit/@cryptogirl1/alert-the-billion-coin-scam-is-promoted-on-steemit-resteem

So, I hope that your tutorials will help me to share my thoughts and write better.

This is a great series. Appreciate how much value you're giving away in your SEO posts. Thank you.
